Company Cafe’s menu is full of gluten-free items for those who are trying to avoid a wheat belly. You can opt for gluten-free pancakes, waffles, bagels, chicken-fried steak and granola. Not to worry, though: Flavor and texture have not been compromised. Pancakes and waffles are served with real maple syrup, optional whipped cream and, of course, butter, and the bagels make a good, starchy addition to any of the scrambles. Chicken fried steak — properly crunchy and seasoned heartily — is topped with jalapeno-honey gravy and served with mashed sweet potatoes and green beans.
Now you don't have to skip brunch with your friends at Bread Winners. Known for its radical selection of breads, cakes, muffins and more, the beloved carbo-heavy restaurant now offers gluten-free focaccia bread for burgers and sandwiches. Order a portobello patty melt on the focaccia — just one way to soak up your mimosa.
Fulfill your noodle cravings at The Mint, the Asian fusion restaurant that serves up tasty dishes such as pad Thai, pad Thai woon-sen and thom kha soup. What's the catch, you might ask? There is none; The Mint uses rice noodles. Just be sure to check the menu for the items that are, in fact, gluten-free. It's not all savory here: The flourless chocolate cake is a sweet finale to a salty meal.
This New York-bred gluten-free bakery serves sweets and lunches at its Sherry Lane locale. Pumpkin and banana breads, malomars — chocolate-covered marshmallow and graham cracker rounds — cookies, cakes, and granola have us fooled. The sweet flavors and textures of Tu-Lu's treats are on par with some of our favorite wheat-filled baked goods. Lunch items include panini made with house-made bread and savory quiches.
Spiral Diner is Dallas-Fort Worth's first and best known vegan restaurant serving faux-meat dishes and an incredible menu of desserts, including excellent vegan cakes, brownies and rich ice creams. It has a separate menu dedicated to gluten-free foodies. On our radar: pasta primavera with brown rice noodles, housemade marinara sauce and loads of veggies, and the "ate" layer burrito with taco "meat," quinoa, black beans, tomatoes, green onion, avocado, black olives, corn, sour cream and chipotle mayonaise in corn tortillas.
With 100 percent raw food, there's no gluten involved. Plus you get loads of nutrients. From appetizer to dessert, you can enjoy everything worry-free. Try the coconut curry soup, spaghetti and"meat" balls and brownie. Three tasty courses that are wheat-free, dairy-free and meat-free? We're serious. And so is Be Raw Food and Juice.
Decadence surely isn't lacking here. Satisfy your sweet tooth with gluten-free carrot cake, chocolate cake, New York cheesecake, chocolate marble cheesecake, praline cheesecake, chocolate chip cookies and white chocolate chip cookies. Kozy also does something called "mush," which is gluten-free hot cereal with clover honey and cream, so you can start your day or end your meal stress-free.
