UPDATE: Body Found Near Smithville Identified
Updated: Wednesday, October 22 2014, 05:50 PM CDT
4:55 p.m. UPDATE: Investigators have identified the body as 24-year-old John Allison, of Smithville.
The sheriff's office says he sustained a gunshot wound but the specific cause of death is yet to be determined by the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office.

The Bastrop Sheriff's Office is investigating a body found near Smithville.
Deputies say the body was found off of Old Lake Road east of Smithville around 5:30 a.m.
Deputies say a person called 911 reporting the body of a man found on the road.
