Bargain bin: Score free or cheap food ‘n drink at 8 D-FW places on Halloween

Krispy Kreme is giving out free doughnuts to costumed customers. How could you order anything besides a Krispy Screme? (@krispykreme)

As if free candy on Halloween wasn’t enough, restaurants and bars around North Texas are offering discounted or free sips and sustenance on Oct. 31. It’s scary how much money you could save if you hop from freebie to freebie.

Some of the deals require you to wear a costume, so dig up that sombrero and ándale, muchacho. It’s Day of the Deals.

Pre-Halloween party: The early bird gets the vodka-soda. The first 200 people to show up to the People’s Last Stand the day before Halloween will get two free drinks as part of a shindig called The People’s Last Halloween Party. (Is it actually the bar’s last Halloween party? Good question.) Those at the party, which is hosted by Susie Drinks Dallas, will also get free appetizers and cupcakes. Best costumes get prizes. 8 p.m. Oct. 30, The People’s Last Stand in Mockingbird Station, 5319 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas.

Stock up on sopapillas: Guests at all 22 area El Fenix locations will get free ghost- and pumpkin-shaped sopapillas from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2. Guests aren’t required to wear a costume to get the deal. Bonus! All El Fenix locations (find them here) from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2.

Discounted booritos: It’s back. Chipotles across the U.S. are selling “booritos,” bowls, salads, tacos and kids meals for $3 to anyone wearing a costume on Halloween night. Any Chipotle in the U.S. (find them here) on Halloween from 5 p.m. to close.

Beer me: World of Beer on SMU Boulevard is running beer specials for those dressed in the Halloween spirit. There will also be a prize wheel for costumed customers, and the bar says ”you could walk out with anything from candy corn to WOB gift cards.” We like both. Oct. 31, 5600 SMU Boulevard, Dallas.

For the little ones, "scary face pancakes" at IHOP aren't exactly terrifying.

Free doughnuts: Krispy Kreme says you can “scare up a free sweet treat” by wearing a costume on Halloween. You can order any doughnut you like, though the Krispy Skremes are obviously a good choice. Any Krispy Kreme in the U.S. or Canada (find them here) on Oct. 31.

Cheapie corndogs: Just two quarters will get you a corndog at Sonic on Halloween. 50 cents! Say it with me: “That’s a scary good deal.” Any Sonic (find them here) on Oct. 31.

Boo-worthy breakfast: IHOP’s “scary face pancake” doesn’t sound so scary: It’s a pancake with eyes and a smile, a strawberry for a nose. But your kid can really spook this thing up when they’re handed a candy corn and two mini Oreos to make the face a little more ghoulish. 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 31 at any IHOP (find them here). For kids 12 and under only, no lyin’.

Dress up, drink up: Flying Saucer on the Lake is hosting special tappings during its Halloween Masquerade and costume contest on Oct. 31. Don’t be a Halloweenie and snag yourself a Wychwood Hobgoblin ruby beer for just $4. 4821 Bass Pro Drive., Garland. Party starts at 7 p.m. Oct. 31. Go early, 4-7 p.m. for happy hour specials.
