Turn your TVs to KTXA-TV (Channel 21) on Thursday, when Dallas chef Chad Houser will gab with Rachael Ray about his new restaurant coming to downtown Dallas.
Houser is executive director of Cafe Momentum, a nonprofit that gives jobs to juvenile offenders. (Or, as Houser puts it: “I take kids out of jail and teach them to play with knives and fire.”)
Cafe Momentum once operated as a pop-up restaurant, but come December, it will have its own brick-and-mortar location that will double as a classroom for students. Besides learning life skills such as cooking, dish washing and serving, the interns at Cafe Momentum will also have a place to take classes — to learn about anger management or hygiene, for instance.
Houser’s chat with Ray is called “Meet a Chef Who is Using Food to Change Lives,” according to a press release, and airs at 10 a.m. Thursday on The Rachael Ray Show. Actor Tom Selleck makes an appearance, too, apparently. You’ll have to see that to believe it.
