Dallasites craving a philanthropic night on the town descended on Fearing’s at the Ritz-Carlton, Dallas for Young Texans Against Cancer’s seventh annual Bubbly Q. The group couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful evening under the stars.

DJ Jose G set the scene while partygoers sipped craft cocktails, including one particularly popular libation called the Bubbly Mule, a twist on the Moscow Mule, from Eddie “Lucky” Campbell of Parliament. Chef chair Dean Fearing happily mingled with the young professionals who chose his restaurant as their landing place for making a difference in the community.

Co-chairs Carrie Hanna and Sarah and Will Groves welcomed charitable partygoers — including Krystal Schlegel, Kari Schlegel Kloewer, Jenn and Nick Kapral, Katherine Harper, Marjon and Gibbs Henderson, and Michelle Musselman — who feasted on bites from top Dallas restaurants such as Boulevardier, Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck, Komali/Salum, Lockhart Smokehouse, Nobu, Origin Kitchen+Bar, Pappas Bros. Steakhouse, Savor, Sissy’s Southern Kitchen, Urban Taco and Fearing’s (of course).

Guests also satisfied dessert cravings with selections from Ascension Coffee, Dallas Caramel Company, Kruffles, Top Pot Doughnuts and Unrefined Bakery. A Top Pot doughnut or two may have come home with me to enjoy with my next morning’s coffee. And I bet I wasn’t the only one.

But the real reason everyone gathered wasn’t to eat, drink and be merry; they were raising money for the organizations that YTAC serves each year. Throughout the evening, guests participated in the silent auction from their smartphones, bidding on everything from a wine tasting weekend in Nantucket to a trip to Telluride to autographed sports memorabilia. All tallied, the event raked in $175,000 for the fight against cancer.

Young Texans Against Cancer is focused on raising funds for local research and support organizations, using its member base to increase awareness of volunteer organizations and to help educate the community on cancer research.

The 2014 beneficiaries are UTSW Simmons Prostate Cancer Research Study, Leukemia Texas’ Patient Aid Program, 1 Million 4 Anna/Anna’s Closet, Medical City Camp iHope, Bridge Breast Network and Parkland Foundation.
