A Tyler man accused of shooting and killing his 30-year old wife will be arraigned Thursday.
Thirty-year-old Adrian Ray Mata is accused of shooting and killing his wife, 30-year-old Jennifer Mata, on February 25. Sheriff's officials say Adrian shot Jennifer in the 1500 block of County Road 333, then fled the scene. He was later arrested without incident at a home near Lake Palestine.
After the shooting, Jennifer Mata was transported to East Texas Medical Center, where she died from her injuries a few hours later. Jennifer worked as a pharmacy tech at the University of Texas Health Center Northeast. She had been with the hospital for several years.
Adrian Mata is being held in the Smith County Jail on a $1 million bond.
