Friday marks the start of the 2014 Rose City Comic Con here in Tyler.
There are many events planned, including panels and psychic readings, to meet-and-greets with stars of notable science fiction shows. With some getting in the mood for Halloween, the topics at the event might have you a little spooked. One of the stars of the event, psychic Lorna Reynolds, said she wants to connect those at her Friday night show to the 'other side.'
"I'm going to be doing a gallery and reaching out across the audience and giving messages from the other side," Reynolds said.
Reynolds wanted to show off her hypnosis talent to KLTV before the Liberty Theater performance. And with a little convincing, former "Doctor Who" star Colin Baker agreed to test Reynolds' abilities, going under hypnosis. Baker said he wanted to see if the process would get rid of aches in his knees.
The verdict?
"I feel alright, I still feel [my knee pain] but the right one does feel better," Baker said.
Paranormal investigator John Brightman is also presenting at the Rose City Comic Con, and said that people are getting more comfortable with the idea of paranormal events.
"Now people are coming out and they don't mind saying that I think my house is haunted or I think I have something going on," Brightman said.
Event organizers said they expect this year's program to draw several thousand more people than last year, when the first Rose City Comic Con was held. Most of the weekend events will take place at the Holiday Inn on South Broadway in Tyler with the exception of Reynold's psychic gallery taking place at the Liberty Theater on Friday night.
