KILGORE, TX (KLTV) -

A much-loved Kilgore High School senior has lost her battle with leukemia.

Lynzee Ford passed away Thursday night in a Tyler hospital after a valiant fight with the disease.

Lynzee was diagnosed with leukemia in January, and underwent five rounds of chemotherapy, but doctors told her and her mom that, in spite of all that, she would not have long to live. The soft-spoken teenager continued doing as much as she could that any normal teenager wants to do.

"Never give up. Never give up," she said in September.

Lynzee was a Kilgore High School student and was involved in athletics there. When her friends heard she may not live to graduate, they decided they would just move her graduation to October, which they recently did. After our stories with Lynzee aired, national media picked up her story and shared it across the country. Lynzee's friends also wanted her to be able to attend her prom, and were planning to have one for her in November.

Kilgore residents organized and remodeled Lynzee's mother's home, making it wheelchair-friendly. Also, a fund was set up to help Lynzee and her family with medical expenses.

If you'd like to help, you can donate to the "I Love Lynzee Project" at Kilgore National Bank.

Lynzee's funeral is at 1 p.m., Nov. 1 at Forest Home Baptist Church.
