AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Democrat Wendy Davis says she would welcome President Barack Obama campaigning for her in Texas in the final days of her underdog bid for governor.
Davis said Wednesday she hasn't invited Obama and disputed that she is now more willing to be aligned with the president than before in her race against Republican Attorney General Greg Abbott.
At a campaign rally in San Antonio earlier Wednesday with actor Chuck Norris, Abbott energized Republicans by calling a vote for Davis a vote for Obama policies.
Davis says she would be "thrilled" if Obama or the Clintons wanted to help with her campaign. Obama has campaigned for Democratic gubernatorial candidates in other states and will continue doing so next week in Wisconsin.
Early voting began this week. Election Day is Nov. 4.
