For a school whose mascot is an aviator, Adkins Elementary knew just the right company to invite for a presentation: Lockheed Martin. The aerospace and defense company visited the elementary and Harpool Middle School during the final week of October.
Wilson Elementary will host a walk or bike to school day on Oct. 30 to remind students of environmental awareness and healthy practices. Students of the school are encouraged to walk to school the morning of Oct. 30, when Wilson will have a “walking school bus” – a group of students walking to school led by adults.
Gonzalez School for Young Children and Fred Moore Day Nursery School will host a joint Halloween Carnival on Oct. 31. Students, their families and community members are invited to the free event, which begins 5 p.m. at Gonzalez.
Ryan High School is hosting its 28th annual Holiday Arts and Craft Show from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1. The show will include food, arts and crafts from more than 100 artists, crafters and vendors from Denton and across the state – including the popular Goodies Galore baked goods booth.
Students, parent and community members are invited to attend an open forum to discuss suicide prevention, a leading cause of death among teens, on Nov. 3.
Oakmont Country Club will host the second annual Divots and Dugouts Tournament benefitting Denton High’s baseball team on Nov. 3, offering fans the opportunity to support the team while playing a fun round of golf.
