Royals' Homegrown Crop Ready to Reign

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The homegrown core of this Kansas City Royals club is so young – not one of them older than 30 – that there's little ambiguity about Wednesday night's Game 7 of the World Series: It's the biggest moment of their careers.

Yet, the game's ultimate contest, on its largest stage, is not necessarily what defines the likes of Alex Gordon, Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas, players who bore the heaviest burden of expectations after decades of losing at Kauffman Stadium.

Rather, it is their time as Omaha – not Kansas City – Royals that proved they could handle failure and retain a singular focus that will come in handy Wednesday night, when a town that hasn't celebrated a championship will look to their homegrown heroes to deliver a World Series...
