COLLIN COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – Collin County Commissioner Mark Reid is warning of an “illegal immigrant tsunami” if “illegal immigrant children” are housed there.  Reid is pushing to keep to the subject on next week’s court agenda. A meeting is scheduled at 1:30pm on Monday for public input before county commissioners take action in the matter Tuesday.

“I will be adding an item to the July 28th court agenda, to discuss the Commissioner Court’s position on participation in housing illegal immigrant children currently flooding across our southern border,” Reid said in a statement on Thursday.

“I have great concern about the cost to Collin County taxpayers of housing these children,” said Reid.

Addressing health concerns, Reid said, “Even if cities or private charities elect to participate, the county has liability for controlling communicable diseases that these children may bring from their home countries.”

Reid “strongly” urged citizens concerned with the issue to “show up for this one.” The public meeting takes place at the Collin County Administration Building on Monday, July 28th at 1:30pm.
