FARMINGDALE, NY (WPIX/CNN) - Police are investigating a crime so gruesome people initially thought it was a Halloween prank.
Witnesses said a man beheaded his mother then jumped in front of a train.
It happened Tuesday night in Long Island, NY.
Police said a woman in her 60s was found beheaded near the train station.
Investigators believe her son committed suicide by train.
No terror links are suspected, and police said they haven't found a murder weapon.
Law enforcement sources were treating the crime as a murder-suicide.
