In Windows RT, add-ons aren't supported by either Internet Explorer or Internet Explorer for the desktop.
If you're missing an add-on that you need to view a page, Internet Explorer will let you know, and will prompt you to install the add-on. Some add-ons come pre-installed by other apps or your PC's manufacturer.
Open the desktop, and then tap or click the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar.
Under Show, tap or click All add-ons.
Tap or click the add-on, tap or click Enable, and then tap or click Close.
Add-ons can sometimes cause browsers to run slowly and crash, or they might pose a security or compatibility risk. You can turn off specific add-ons to help increase your browsing speed, or if you suspect they're causing problems for Internet Explorer. You can also remove add-ons that you're no longer using from your PC. It's a good idea to delete add-ons if you suspect they're causing performance, compatibility, or security problems.
Under Show, tap or click All add-ons, and then select the add-on you want to turn off.
Tap or click Disable, and then tap or click Close.

If the add-on can be deleted, you'll see the Remove option. Tap or click Remove and then tap or click Close.

If you need to run an incompatible add-on, you can turn off Enhanced Protected Mode in the desktop browser.
On the Advanced tab, under Security, select the Enable Enhanced Protected Mode check box, and then tap or click OK. You'll need to restart your PC before this setting takes effect.

Add-ons, also known as ActiveX controls, browser extensions, browser helper objects, or toolbars, can improve your experience on a website by providing multimedia or interactive content, such as animations. However, some add-ons can cause your computer to stop responding or display content that you don't want, such as pop-up ads.
If you suspect that browser add-ons are affecting your computer, you might want to disable all add-ons to see if that solves the problem.
Click the Start button, and then click All Programs.
Click Accessories, click System Tools, and then click Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).
If disabling all add-ons solves the problem, you might want to use Add-on Manager to disable all add-ons permanently and then turn on add-ons only as you need them. To disable an add-on, follow the steps below.
Under Show, click All Add-ons.
Click the add-on you want to disable, and then click Disable.
Repeat step 4 for every add-on you want to disable. When you're finished, click Close.
