One person died at the scene of a Monday afternoon accident on FM455 near Sanger High School.
According to Sgt. Lonny Haschel of the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Highway Patrol troopers were called to the scene of the two-vehicle accident at 3:50 p.m.
The accident occurred when a Hyundai Accent was traveling west on FM455 and crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a Mitsubishi Endeavor that was traveling east, he said.
The driver of the Hyundai died at the scene and two young children were injured, Haschel said.
One of the children was transported by ambulance to Denton Regional Medical Center and the other was taken via air ambulance to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth.
The driver of the Mitsubishi was trapped in the vehicle and was rescued by the Sanger Fire Department.
That driver was flown to Medical Center of Plano via air ambulance with serious injuries, Haschel said.
Names of those involved in the accident were not made available as of press time.
Haschel said troopers were still on the scene investigating the accident into the evening Monday.
