The death of a 12-year-old Lewisville boy Friday night is under investigation by Lewisville police.

Capt. Dan Rochelle said Saturday that police were dispatched to the 1700 block of Bunker Hill Lane - a mobile home park- at 6:37 p.m. after two cousins were struck by a four-door Nissan Sentra.

Eric Lozano,12, was pronounced dead at 7:11 p.m. at the Medical Center of Lewisville due to crash injur...ies to the head and chest according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s website.

His 10-year-old cousin, police said, was not seriously injured.

Through preliminary investigations police said a 16-year-old girl was learning basic motor vehicle skills from her father when she suddenly went into reverse and accelerated the Sentra- pinning the 12-year-old to a mobile home.

The teenage girl did not have a drivers license, Rochelle said, but she was learning on private property. He did say the girl and the two boys were not related and came from separate families.

Rochelle said the two were walking down an inter-road of the mobile home park when they were struck by the teenager.

Police don’t believe foul play was involved and she had not been drinking.

“It appears to be truly an accident,” Rochelle said.

The accident is “still active” and will be presented to the Denton County District Attorney’s Office for further review, police said.
