Last night the Argyle Council voted unanimously to allow Runner Susan (RS) an SUP for solar panels on her home. After living through the fracking shale nightmare, a Clean Air Act violation by one of the many facilities near her and foaming water that made plastic/waxy stuff (video), RS is trying to be a part of the solution.
Argyle P&Z denied the SUP so RS prepared a presentation for the Council last night and had several friends on hand for comments. I was going to talk about my success with solar panels and my neighbor’s support and enthusiasm. But I didn’t have to. The Council seemed confused by the need to even consider such a reasonable request and approved the SUP without discussion.

I’m saving money with my solar panels even with the cloudy weather we’ve had lately. Tuesday, 5/21, I paid $.09 for my electric usage. Friday 5/24, I paid a whopping $.30. One day I paid $1.53 because we did several loads of laundry but most days, despite the clouds, I use under a $1.
RS has a bigger roof area, her panels will offset about 70% of her electric usage so she will save even more electricity.
Going solar has not only taken a strain off my pocket book, it is taking a strain off our grid. Texas ranks dead last in electricity reliability according to a recent assessment by the North American Electric Reliability Corporation.
