BREAKING: San Antonio City Council to Rename “San” Antonio to “Gay” Antonio

September 6, 2013 - 12:51 pm 3 Comments

So yesterday I tweeted about the controversial ordinance taken up by the San Antonio City Council yesterday concerning adding protections for sexual orientation and gender identity, which is clearly a direct affront to all God-fearing anti-gay straight people.

THE CITY OF SAN ANTONIO IS PERSECUTING CHRISTIANS AND TURNING THEIR CHILDREN INTO HOMOSEXUALS.

I didn’t expect much of a response. The only responses I get on Twitter are typically from people letting me know about free scone samples at area Starbucks locations. I made the mistake of using the hashtag #NDO4SA. I don’t even know what hashtags are. I just like doing what everyone else is doing so I don’t feel so alone. However I quickly found out that my innocent tweet had been misconstrued. (You know you’ve missed the mark when you have to send a follow-up tweet patiently explaining that it’s sarcasm. Clearly I have lost my touch.)

  • LOL you are hilarious. Total misinformation.
  • #WackoAlertKlaxon**
  • rarely do I call people and idiot. Your tweet deserves that title I think.
  • Christian identity is steeped in a history of persecution. I mean, how many saints were martyred? Y’know?

Then finally, a voice of reason…

  • FYI she’s on our side, Eileen is. It was a snark tweet.

(** I didn’t know what a Klaxon was either. Apparently it’s “an electric horn or similar loud warning device.” So from now on, call me Klaxon.)

The City Council ended up approving the anti-discrimination ordinance 8-3 after hearing hours of testimony from religious fanatics arguing that their freedoms were being trampled. Austin, Dallas and Houston already have such ordinances in place and we all know how that turned out. Every church was turned into a gay night club, for one.

The most vocal opponent to the San Antonio ordinance was Councilwoman Elisa Chan, who called gays “disgusting” in a secret recording released by a former aide. Chan also claimed that being gay is a choice (kind of like being Asian is a choice) and that gays “take hormone shots.” Interesting theory. Do the hormone shots turn them gay or do they just keep them gay?

Luckily during the hearing Chan had a chance to explain herself saying, “Just because I disagree with the lifestyle choices of the LGBT community doesn’t mean that I dislike them.” Actually that’s pretty much the definition of “dislike.”

(Disclaimer: This post contains elements of sarcasm. But not about the church-turned-gay-night-club. That one’s totally true.)
