Seems the writer is a kid and still drinking the fracker’s Kool Aid about sending kids to war and freedom from OPEC. Poor uninformed soul.

He can’t take the heat. We all got blocked from his Twitter account today. That’s the way they roll. Call me a “kid killer” then block me when I point out that he is over the top.
I’m convinced. Where do I sign up to get a rig in my backyard. It’s the American thing to do.
Nick is sub species of Gashole. The gigantic kind. All too happy to drill in my backyard, but entirely too much of a coward to even think about drilling in his. But, like his American cousins, has quickly learned to divert attention from the real issue.
Having lived and worked for 25 years in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana, I’ll make a deal with all of those advocating fracking. The deal is as follows:
1) You locate your domicile, as many citizens have in SE Texas and SW Louisiana, downwind of the predominate wind direction of a petrochemical refinery.
2) You raise your children in aforementioned domicile, as many in SE Texas/SW Louisiana do.
3) You drink your water from the faucet, whatever its flavor, texture, or odor, as many in SE Texas/SW Louisiana do.
4) You send your children to be schooled next to the petrochemical plants, as many in SE Texas/SW Louisiana do.
5) You vacation at “tarball beach”, as many in SE Texas/SW Louisiana do.
6) You eat the local fish, crabs, and crayfish, as many in SE Texas/SW Louisiana do.
7) You allow total, unfettered drilling off every shore, and I mean every shore, in the Continental U.S. and not just the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. That means off Florida, California, Oregon, Washington, Maine, New York, and even Martha’s Vineyard.
8) That you rotate through various contract jobs at various petrochemical plants so that you cannot litigate at a later date against a specific petrochemical plant over an acquired cancer. Yes, rotating contract jobs through various petrochemical plants is a standard, accepted practice in SE Texas and SW Louisiana. It is designed so expressly for the purpose of mitigating the ability of potential plaintiffs to sue.
When you have done all of these things for 25 years, and if you still feel the same way, I’ll grant you a license to drill wherever you’d like. I’m betting, though, that if you’re at least as intelligent as me you’ll change your mind once you’ve seen the impact on you, your spouse, and your loved ones.
One by one, I’ve seen co-workers and relatives of mine, die off from cancers specific to the plants in which they’ve worked. Each petrochemical plant has its particular pattern of cancers. It is remarkable to see the cancer maps from the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta (CDC Atlanta). You can tell where the petrochemical plants are located simply by looking the occurrence of particular cancers.
Do you really think that fracking’s impact will be any different?

No brainer here, higher fuel economy standards do wonders in reducing fuel usage.
