Fun light show on the David Dunlop Observatory. I was doing a talk for them last Saturday night so I didn't have much time to set up a tripod, so these are all handheld pics in the dark. R2D2 is my fave.. man did it sure confuse me when I first arrived though. I wasn't expecting it!

Brantford Airport CYFD! This one's for +Joel Swerdlow who use to fly. Bring back memories? This shows the  triangular runway pattern that Joel said was common for airports that were used for military training back in the day. BTW Brantford Airport has the BEST airshows!!

Partial solar eclipse this afternoon from Hamilton. There were some pretty good sunspots! I used my B+W 10 stop filter with live view for this one. The sun was not too high.

Hi +Jason Carlile the 60Da is definitely a great choice for astro. I was very close to buying that model. Good luck!!

Flying over the big city at night in a Cessna 172. Thanks so much to my astro/AP friend Andy for this great spur of the moment opportunity. We flew out of Burlington Executive Airport CZBA and did some sight seeing over Toronto and Niagara Falls. Perfect end to tough day.

BTW forgot to mention that this picture is an example of what ISO 25K on the Canon 6D looks like after some lightroom noise reduction.

As promised, here is part 2 of my stars and flowers series. I really don't know what to think of this as it turned out a little different from what I was imagining but I hope you like it. The Queen Anne's Lace flowers were very prolific this summer on our property. In the background you can see the milkyway fighting against our light polluted skies in the Golden Horseshoe.

For those of you who don't follow me on twitter @weatherandsky.... a couple of days ago my latest astrophoto Cocoon Nebula was featured on Slate.com by +Philip Plait. It was such an honour and I'm so thankful! http://www.slate.com/blogs/bad_astronomy/2014/10/27/cocoon_nebula_gorgeous_astrophoto.html.  Thanks again Phil! That same day my collegue posted a really nice article as well on the company website +The Weather Network  ....  It was one of those days :) Super nice to get the recognition.
Oh, do I love me some young stars throwing their weight around! Behold what happens when they do: This photo was taken by “amateur” astronomer Kerry-Ann Lecky Hepburn, using a 20 cm Astro-Tech RC telescope, and is a total of nearly nine hours of exposure through various filters. What it...

Wonderful warm colors and a nice composition with the rings on the water surface.

Had a nice visit with a friend who was showing me his home built observatory. What a pretty property and at only 15 minutes drive from home I also noticed the night sky looked more stunning than at home. Clouds were moving in from some Atlantic tropical moisture but it didn't stop me from taking a my camera and tripod out. Luckily they go with me everywhere :)

Introduction
I have always had a passion to share with others the universe around them that is either unseen or often times taken for granted. What better way to do this than through photography. From the immense and breathtaking structure of a thunderstorm, to the delicate wisps and soft colours of dust and gas in deep space.
