Meet our country's new Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. James Inhofe is an infamous Climate Denier who has just been given a lot of power to make decisions that will affect our air, environment and public healt...h.

This means that we are going to have to increasingly take (Environmental) Action at the local level. The good news is we have examples, like our fellow fractivists in Denton, Texas.

TIME FOR SOME ACTION!

You heard, right? Denton, TX, the birthplace of fracking, JUST BANNED FRACKING.

This is why Denton's ban and the work of Frack Free Denton is HUGE NEWS for people fighting fracking *everywhere*.

Resistance against #fracking is rising like a tide all over the US. Stay tuned for more updates from Cove Point MD as the team from Beyond Extreme Energy goes mobile!
There are so many wonderful acts of resistance happening out there right now. Just look:

• Seneca Lake, NY just started their 3rd week of blockades of construction of a FERC-approved project to store highly pressurized gas under Seneca L...ake. This project is hugely dangerous, and these folks aren't backing down. Check out We Are Seneca Lake.

• In PA's historic farm country, Lancaster Against Pipelines is mobilizing the county (and the vote!) against the proposed "Atlantic Sunrise" gas pipeline through Lancaster County. Just this weekend, they took 30 people on a bus tour to visit with impacted landowners and families.

• Denton, TX is hustling hard to win a ban on fracking this election. This photo is from a early voting kick-off concert. Cheer these folks on at Frack Free Denton.

• In DC, 25 people were arrested yesterday for blockading FERC, President Obama's runaway energy agency that's rubber stamping just about every fracked gas project that's put on its desk. FERC is a major target this week - get ready for more. #FERCdoesntwork

• Vermonters will not let a new fracked gas pipeline get laid through their state - 64 people were arrested for sitting in Governor Shumlin's office last week. This pipeline is a line in the sand: Vermonters with Rising Tide Vermont and 350 Vermont are also demanding a ban on all new fossil fuel infrastructure.

• Rhode Island's Senators support Spectra's pipeline expansions that would put Ocean State families on the edge of new compressor stations, and speed up fracking through the region. FANG: Fighting Against Natural Gas is putting these Senators on notice - 3 members were arrested on Friday (Halloween!) for sitting in Senator Jack Reed's office, making major local headlines.

• Just yesterday, as the sun came up, Kelly Canavan locked down to pier construction of the incredulously FERC-approved Cove Point natural gas export terminal on the Chesapeake Bay. Kelly's act of bravery will certainly inspire more.

If you were looking for a moment to step up your involvement in this fight, well, now would be a mighty powerful time. #TimesUpRiseUp

Today, there were acts of non violent resistance to #fracking in at least 3 towns - including a big event at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission where 25 people were arrested. More on that here: http://ecowatch.com/2014/11/03/25-arrested-shutting-down-ferc/ thanks Tar Sands Blockade for the image!
Today, concerned individuals coordinated blockades in three different parts of the East coast to shut down fracking operations as well as those who help make them happen! Over 100 protested, and about 40 were arrested.

In DC, 25 people we...re arrested shutting down the offices of FERC, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the agency that rubber stamps dangerous fracking/natural gas projects with reckless abandon. Protesters blocked front and side entrances to the building as well as the driveway of building's accompanying parking lot. Later, protestors also blocked traffic in the adjacent road.

In the Finger Lakes region of New York, 15 people were arrested blocking the gates of Texas-based Crestwood Midstream’s gas storage facility. This action comes as part of a longer campaign for the last 3 weeks against a recent announcement of an expansion of this storage facility, which was rubber-stamped by FERC. http://earthfirstjournal.org/newswire/2014/11/03/breaking-15-arrested-as-anti-gas-blockade-in-finger-lakes-enters-third-week/

And in Cove Point, Maryland, at the site of a future natural gas export facility also rubberstamped by (wait for it...) FERC, Maryland mother Kelly Canavan locked herself to a piece of equipment at a construction site for the facility. She has since been arrested and faces 10 misdemeanor charges. On Nov 3, nearly 100 protestors visited the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to demand they stop rubber stamping fracking and fracked-gas infrsatructure like pipelines, export terminals and storage facilities. These projects are ripping apart towns from Cove Point Maryland, to Seneca Lake New York, to Santa Monica California. It's up to FERC to say NO to fracking. — at Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Denmark just pledged to quit coal by 2025 and go 100% renewable by 2050.

That makes sense. Wind power is now cheaper than coal across Europe. The writing is on the wall for dirty fossil fuels.
