November Classes for Kids and Adults

We are offering such an incredible set of classes this November you won’t want to miss out.  We’ll be hosting some amazing adult classes as well as Camp SCRAP over the Thanksgiving holiday.

The month kicks off with a Hand Lettering Class for adults on November 11th from 6:30-8:30 pm.  This class is great for individuals who have not done hand lettering before.  You will go over basics and everything you need to know to get started and will get to leave with a little hand lettered art work.  Cost is $15.00 and all materials are provided by SCRAP.

Advent Calendar - All in a row

Then on Saturday November 15th at 2 pm there is a Beginner Level Crochet Class and on November 18th we will be leading an Advent Calendar Class.  Learn how to make an interactive advent calendar to count down the days until Christmas!  We will wrap up the month of adult classes with a Sewing Class on November 22nd.

We are excited to be offering a Thanksgiving Break Camp SCRAP for kids ages 6-12. Camp SCRAP sessions will be on Monday November 24th and Tuesday November 25th from 12:30-3:30 each day.  Campers will learn new art techniques from and explore the many possibilities of reused materials.

Help SCRAP Fund a Move!

cover photo
It was almost three years ago when SCRAP Denton opened it’s doors in our space at 215 W. Oak St.  After much planning, gathering materials and spreading the word about SCRAP at the Denton Community Market we opened up shop in January of 2012.  The support we have received from the Denton community has been tremendous.  Since opening our doors we have accepted over 76,375 lbs (over 38 tons) of donated materials, 5,395 lbs in August of 2014 alone!
Our dedicated volunteers and staff work hard to process these materials, keep the store organized and make your shopping experience enjoyable.  We have regularly expanded our retail space to be able to make more of these materials to you.  As you may have noticed over the past few months, SCRAP is full to the brim with materials for sale as well as unprocessed donations.  In addition, there is no more room for retail expansion in our current location. The time has come for SCRAP to move to a larger, more open location.
How can you help? On September 18 between 6 am and midnight, SCRAP is participating in North Texas Giving Day.  For every donation over $25, SCRAP will be eligible to receive bonus funds. For every donor that supports SCRAP, our chances to win cash prices increase.
SCRAP has a goal to raise $3,000 to help cover the cost of a move to a larger space.  With your support we will be able to provide Denton with more affordable materials, a better equipped classroom and a more comfortable and safer shopping experience.
Mark your calendars for September 18 and give to SCRAP between the hours of 6 am and midnight. Come out to the North Texas Giving Day Denton County event between 5-7:30 pm and participate in a make-and-take craft.
Support creative reuse in Denton.  Donate to SCRAP!

No Donations June 23-June28

Due to high volumes of donations over the past few months, SCRAP will be unable to take donations from Monday June 23-Saturday June 28.  This will allow time for staff and volunteers to process the mountains of donations we already have and make room for more.  We want to ensure that SCRAP is a safe and comfortable work environment for our volunteers and staff and that it’s an enjoyable shopping experience for you.

We will be taking donations again starting June 30, so just hang on for a week and we’ll be back on track.  We sincerely appreciate your understanding!
