The Distribution of Oil and Gas Wells and Production Project was undertaken by the Energy Information Administration, DOE to provide a database for analyses assessing the impact of technological development on marginal gas wells. The database, called the U.S.PetroSystem, was established in the spring of 2000 for the creation, maintenance and sharing of data used in the study of domestic and worldwide oil and gas resources, reserves, production, productive capacity, and their associated technologies and economics.
