Today, Oscar nominees Josh Fox and Mark Ruffalo were on Capitol Hill to talk to members of Congress about the destructive impacts of natural gas drilling.

Both live in the Catskills region of New York/Pennsylvania, where gas drilling in the Marcellus shale has sparked a huge controversy and left some communities, like Dimock, PA, permanently scarred.

Members of Congress who have been fighting for more stringent federal regulations for the natural gas industry, including regulation of hydraulic fracturing under the Safe Drinking Water Act, joined Fox and Ruffalo at a press conference this morning. Congressman Hinchey, Congressman Polis and my former Congressman Rush Holt all gave impassioned speeches regarding the need to protect our water, air and communities from the impacts of gas drilling.
