A 63-year-old man was found dead Thursday near a natural gas pad site in the 5900 block of Barnett Road, northwest of Krum, according toDenton County sheriff’s officials.
Authorities have identified the man as Jimmy Dale Deweber, of Alvord.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Larry Kish said the man was unloading condensate — a natural gas liquid — from the tank of his truck into a holding tank when something went wrong.
He was found near a spillover of condensate, which investigators say they believe killed the man.
The stop was his first run of the morning. The man, who has not yet been identified, was working for Enterprise Products, which contracted with Burlington Resources, a subsidiary of ConocoPhillips.
Officials working the scene say they believe he died early on.
“Family and friends haven’t been able to get in touch with him all day, so that’s when a nearby co-worker went over and found him deceased,” Kish said.
No other injuries have been reported.
Hazmat crews from Conoco Phillips were working on cleaning and containing the hazardous fumes Thursday evening.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy, Kish said, and the death is still under investigation.
