A 27-year-old motorcyclist remained in critical condition Sunday after an accident late Saturday, Denton police said.

Officer Shane Kizer, spokesman for Denton police, said officers responded to an accident involving a motorcycle and a parked vehicle at 11:48 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of North Interstate 35E.

Denton police and fire officials responded to a McDonald’s parking lot where the motorcycle rider was reportedly unresponsive.

Kizer said the man was not wearing a helmet and suffered multiple head injuries. He was transported by air ambulance to Medical Center of Plano, where he remained in critical condition Sunday.

Denton police traffic investigators determined the motorcycle was traveling northbound on the service road, left the roadway and went through some shrubs in the McDonald’s parking lot.

Police said the motorcycle fell onto its side and slid into an unoccupied parked car.

Kizer said excessive speed and alcohol were determined to be factors in the accident, which remains under investigation.
