‘FrackNation’ to screen at UNT, director to visit

The University of North Texas College Republicans will present a screening of the documentary FrackNation at 5 p.m. Tuesday, and director Phelim McAleer will answer questions after the screening.

The screening will be in Room 73 of UNT’s Business Leadership Building, 1307 W. Highland St.

FrackNation documents McAleer’s search for the truth about hydraulic fracturing, a technique used by the oil and gas industry to unlock oil and gas reserves in shale and other geological formations.

The filmmaker confronts “green extremists” and talks with rural Americans whose livelihoods are at risk if fracking is banned.

McAleer made the film after confronting Josh Fox, the filmmaker of Gasland and Gasland II, and paid for the film with funds raised through a Kickstarter campaign.
