Kean University Announces Michael Graves School of Architecture

A new architecture school named after the architect Michael Graves was announced at Kean University in Union, N.J., on Saturday.

The Michael Graves School of Architecture’s curriculum will make use of the New York metropolitan area and the Wenzhou region of China, where Kean has an English-speaking campus.

The architecture school will be housed in the Green Lane Academic Building, which opened earlier this year on Kean’s campus in Union. Mr. Graves will design the school’s Wenzhou building.

Developing the curriculum “has been a deeply gratifying experience for me,” Mr. Graves said in a statement. “Students will develop a well-rounded understanding of the role of architecture in society, with a respect for its history and clear vision for the future.”

Kean announced the new school in connection with the 50th anniversary of Mr. Graves’s firm, Michael Graves Architecture & Design, in Princeton, N.J.
