Smitherman will be a featured speaker at the 2012 Gulf Coast Energy  Summit in Biloxi, Mississippi.   Thousands are confirmed to attend what will be a lively and in-depth  discussion on national energy issues with presidential candidates and sector  leaders from the federal, state, and local level.

“I  am eager take our message of safely increasing our domestic production.  I will highlight the dangers of federal  overregulation, and will contrast the success of Texas energy policies with the  failure of President Obama’s,” Smitherman said.

“Energy  production is a driving force of the nation’s economy and we must continue to  push back against politically-motivated regulations that are not based on  science or fact.  The Gulf Coast Energy  Summit is a terrific forum to demonstrate how Texas’ reasonable and responsible  regulatory climate allows energy production to flourish.”
