FEBRUARY PERMITS TO DRILL
The Commission issued a total of 1,744 original drilling permits in February 2013 compared to 1,798 in February 2012. The February total included 1,551 permits to drill new oil and gas wells, 31 to re-enter existing well bores, and162 for re-completions. Permits issued in February 2013 included 472 oil, 119 gas, 1,063 oil and gas, 59 injection, two service and 29 other permits.
JANUARY CRUDE OIL PRODUCTION
Texas preliminary January 2013 crude oil production averaged 1,427,036 barrels daily, up from the 1,064,917 barrels daily average of January 2012.
The preliminary Texas crude oil production figure for January 2013 is 44,238,129 barrels, up from 33,012,455 barrels reported during January 2012.
FEBRUARY OIL AND GAS COMPLETIONS
In February 2013, operators reported 1,006 oil, 351 gas, 47 injection and one other completion compared to 869 oil, 388 gas, 51 injection and one other completion in February 2012.
Total well completions for 2013 year to date are 2,925 up from 2,329 recorded during the same period in 2012.
Operators reported 45 holes plugged and zero dry holes in February 2013 compared to 426 holes plugged and zero dry holes in February 2012.
JANUARY NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION
Texas oil and gas wells produced 532,730,191 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas based upon preliminary production figures for January 2013 down from the January 2012 preliminary gas production total of 533,503,061 Mcf. Texas preliminary January total gas production averaged 17,184,845 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) a day.
Texas production in January 2013 came from 146,106 oil wells and 91,975gas wells.
