All Hail John Wiley Price, the King of Dallas County, Ruler of All He Surveys

Unfortunately, it took about 20 years for the feds to clean-up the corruption in Cleveland. I hope it does not take that long there. When every hand feeds another hand, and the people in power are surrounded by cronies, it is difficult to get rid of the corrupt. Good luck.

I have a friend named Nikki. Shes black and she grew up in devistatingly poor black communities. Luckily, she made her way out and lives a successful life. She would tell me the craziest things about her experiences.

She told me once, that they have medical trucks driving around these communities and paying people $20 to $50 to get tested for AIDS. Unfortunatly they were mostly drug addicts. They got tested, paid and went to get more drugs with the money they received. This is still happening in those same communities today.

Maybe Im crazy, but with Johns power and ties with the black community, would it be possible that he's getting votes the same way? Registering those addicts to vote for Price to get that $50? Just a concept.

If Price is ' our man downtown' then Jenkins is Price's 'Boy Downtown"...

How John Price, can sit on the County payroll and sell his constituents down the drain is, the worst crime a man can commit.In my opinion the man destroyed a development that would have put 40,000 plus jobs in the Southern part of Dallas County.Tax base would have grown and people would have work.For a few pounds of silver a whole community was sold out.We the people of District 3 must do something about this mad man.By the way those are white underware with red hearts,

Someone below made this comment "All we can do now is give up and move our taxes out of Dallas county or demand an end to the corruption".....moving out has been the easiest...that why Collin, Denton and Tarrant Counties have had such growth. That's also why Dallas...which used to have more Republicans per capita than any city in the U.S.....as totally changed!

When and how can we vote him out of office?

Even then it was clear Price is a grandstanding fool who would be a constant embarrassment and hindrance to this city and yet here we are almost twenty years later fooling ourselves into thinking that South Dallas won't re-elect him. They always have and always will, things won't get better until we make them get better ourselves.

The hypocrisy is appalling. I am not a fan of Commissioner Price, yet I am baffled at why there is so much consternation at the resignation (by choice) of Sherbet. If Sherbet ran a clean organization, shouldn't he have gone before the committee and defended his agency? He didn't; he chose to cut-and-run instead. He is either a massive coward or a crook. Maybe both.

John Price is proof we need term limits at every level of government.

Price should be self-satisfied. He gained control of the Commissioner's Court without running for judge and giving up his road crew, he has installed many of his minions in positions of power and influence, and he has a DA who has made it clear he doesn't investigate or prosecute Democrats.

Watch for Jenkins working as free security at next year's Kwanzaa Fest.

Can you expand on that? Everything I remember you writing mentions Richards telling the SALT assholes to go pound sand, then the Richards development went into bankruptcy and I don't recall anything since.

Ten years I've been seeing that photo of JWP, and I still can't determine conclusively if that's the back of a chair, or his ass up in the air. It's like, a graduate-level test on photographic forensics or whatever. My ten bucks says ass.

I see in Price the predictable result of well intentioned but easily exploited ideas.

My parents tell me that to have spoken out against the steamroller of immensely popular and emotionally-driven ideas was to subject oneself to hatred and ridicule.

Price, Parkland, Jenkins, etc is a done deal. All we can do now is give up and move our taxes out of Dallas county or demand an end to the corruption. But how do we end the corruption? Will we be steamrolled if we try?

I didn't enter the working world until the 1990s, though, so maybe I'm completely off base.

JWP reminds me of a court jester or clown who has ascended into power, eventually he and his lackeys will take a tumble, more than likely sooner than later.

"The statute contemplates...."? I think he's unclear on the defition on one or both of those words. Or maybe he meant "dictates".

But Betty, the last thing JWP wants is a prosperous south Dallas where the people have decent jobs, good pay, benefits and a chance at a secure future for themselves and their families. Secure, prosperous people are not the people who vote JWP into office. To stay in office he needs the poor, marginalized and unemployed, people who won't look further than letting him know how much they appreciate the crumbs swept from his table, and the few dollars he gives them to go to the polls when he runs for reelection.

Garland Guy. You've just got to try forming your opinions based on more of the facts; most of which will never be made public. I'm not taking sides but I did always know Sherbet to be on the ball, take responsibility for any voting issues, work progressively for improvements, return calls promptly & actually be of real assistance to any person, from peons to rulers. He conducted & exited with dignity. Nothing factual indicates him to be either a coward, crook or both. Hope this helps a bit.

Maybe he just didn't want to get nibbled to death by mice? Do you honestly think that if he hand't gone voluntarily, he wouldn't have been hounded from office? Especially with JWP's handpicked protege as his second-n-command more than ready to play Iago to his Othello (does that make Clay Jenkins Desdemona?).
