Editor's Note: The News and NBC5 to team up on election night webcast

We are gearing up in new ways for the Nov. 4 election night. Readers can count on our usual comprehensive coverage of local, state and national results.

What’s new is a first-time-ever political webcast featuring the combined political teams of The Dallas Morning News and our TV news partner, NBC5 (KXAS-TV).

Beginning at 7 p.m. election night on dallasnews.com, we will live-stream election results and discuss important trends as they develop.

“We are excited to harness the resources of The News and NBC5 in order to offer unprecedented local online coverage,” said David Duitch, editor of dallasnews.com.

The evening’s webcast will be hosted by the venerable Doug Fox, the longtime dean of local TV political reporting in North Texas.

Anchoring The News’ political analysis will be Gromer Jeffers Jr. and Rodger Jones in Dallas; Wayne Slater, Christy Hoppe and Robert Garrett in Austin; and Todd Gillman in Washington.

Weighing in for NBC5 will be political reporters Julie Fine and Kevin Cokely, among others.

Content will include spirited discussions on local results, developments statewide and key analysis on important midterm congressional races. Viewers will be able to tweet their questions to our team, using #DMNelex.
