Crowley police looking for two men who attempted to abduct two children Thursday at a bus stop

Staff writer Jehadu Abshiro reports:

Crowley police are searching for two suspects who attempted to abduct two children early Thursday near a school bus stop.

Officers received a call around 7:15 a.m. about two men in a white truck attempting to lure a 10-year-old and 11-year-old into the vehicle with them. A school bus driver called after the children said they had been approached while they were waiting at the bus stop in the Mesa Vista neighborhood near Main Street, Crowley police said.

The children told police that the passenger in the truck rolled down the window and asked the kids if they wanted a ride to school. After the children said no, the man opened the truck door and said he wanted to “take them on a ride of a lifetime,” police said.

The children didn’t get into the truck, and the men went to another bus stop where police said they did the same thing.

Police described the passenger as a heavy-set white man in his 30s. He has a short black beard and possibly has a scar on his cheek. He wore a green hat with a fishhook attached to the bill during the incident. Police didn’t have a full description of the driver.

The truck was described as a white Ford Super Duty with a chrome grill on the front. The truck bed had a pile of wood stored in it.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crowley police at 817-297-2276.
