A local developer is planning to build a two-phase apartment community off John Hawkins Parkway in Hoover.

According to a report from AL.com, Charles Kessler wants to put between 450 to 500 total units across from the Lake Crest subdivision, which will also be near The Crossings at Hoover project being developed by Franklin, Tenn.'s GBT Realty.

Kessler told AL.com the community will be called Grove Parc, and will begin with a 250-unit phase that will be followed with 200 to 250 more in the second phase.

The 30-acre lot, which is zoned for multifamily use, will be located adjacent to property GBT may expand its current development to in the future, the report said.

Right now, Sprouts Farmers Market, McDonald's, Starbucks and Jimmy John's are the major tenants leased for The Crossings.

Kessler will be working with a developer from Missouri who specializes in multifamily developments.

Rental prices for the apartments will be north of $1 per square foot, Kessler said in the report.
