Rice University has landed in the top 100 on U.S. News & World Report's list of the 500 Best Global Universities.
Several Houston-area schools made the list, with Rice ranking No. 89, the University of Houston coming in at No. 304, and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston landing at No. 446.
U.S. News & World Report ranked the schools based on 10 indicators measuring their academic performance as well as the schools' regional and global reputations.
In all, 12 Texas schools made it onto the inaugural list, including the University of Texas at Austin, which ranked No. 30, and Texas A&M University in College Station, which came in at No. 86.
Rice recently was ranked the best college in Texas by College Factual. UH, the University of St. Thomas, Houston Baptist University, Texas Southern University and UH Downtown all made it onto that list, ranking Nos. 17, 18, 25, 55 and 59, respectively.
Forbes ranked Rice No. 7 on its list of the best schools to work for, and it was the only Texas school to make the top 50 on U.S. News & World Report's list of the 2015 Best Colleges.
