UPDATE: Two dead. See below.

One dead in Bolivar natural gas explosion

BOLIVAR, Ohio – Police in Bolivar confirm one person is dead following a natural gas explosion.

The explosion happened around 9:40 a.m. at an oil-and-gas well site in the 10000 block of State Route 212.

An employee at a nearby group home said he felt the ground start to shake and looked toward the oil well. He said the cover of a storage tank shot about 100 feet into the air, and fuel leaked down a driveway and into a field.

Better coverage on the explosion

BREAKING: Ohio Residents Blockade Fracking Wastewater Injection Well Site

“How can the ODNR possibly allow fracking companies to dump untold volumes of fracking waste in our communities if they won’t even test it? How can they reassure us that a 1,000 gallon spill of waste is safe if they don’t even know what was in the fluid that was spilled?” asks Reverend Monica Beasley-Martin from Trumbull County. “We have been asking too long, and we have had enough. We need safe water and clean air. Ohio is not a sacrifice zone, and Ohio is not a dumping ground. ODNR: test the fracking waste now!”

If you have better sources of information please provide links. We are all about accurate information here and, with all the secrecy and lies from industry, it’s very hard to find that. So please share any additional news reports you have.

BTW, I did not write those news reports.

As Always, thank you for commenting.

Sharon-your headline (not the news headline) refers to “ohio fracking”. There is nothing in the pictures or the text that refers to fracking. If I had to guess ( with 33 years experience ) a pumper probably tried to guage a tank with a smoke in his mouth. That’s a shame but it’s more akin to driving without seatbelts than an eco-disaster. This is an example of what I meant when I said BOTH sides stretch to make their points. And while I’m at it, I noticed your “heartfelt” statement of sympathy for the young fellow who died in Montana recently. Wasn’t he just another “gashole” making big money polluting your earth until one second before his death ? Just wondering where you draw the line.

Hard working people who feel forced to work at dangerous jobs are NEVER the enemy. Paid industry liars at all levels in industry are. Most workers know the difference because they contact me with horror stories quite often. Most often they seem to understand that I want them to have improved working conditions.

At the industry conference I attended where they recommended downloading the US Army/Marine Corp Counter Insurgency Manual and commonly referred to US citizens are “insurgents” and where they admitted using ex military PSYOPS personnel in our neighborhoods because “having that understanding of psy ops in the Army and in the Middle East has applied very helpfully here for us in Pennsylvania” I also learned that without fracking there would be no shale oil & gas production. Therefore, fracking is related to everything having to do with shale oil and gas production. They even said that messaging should say that we (the opposition to irresponsible drilling) are against drilling and not to ever say the fracking word.

Are you also Dave Goingto or are you just replying on his behalf. Hard as I try, I can’t keep up with all the different identities industry uses to comment here.

No I’m just little ole me. The point is theoil industry is made up of “hard working people” exactly like you and me. Some of them have stretched the truth (just like you and me) but, at the end of the day, they just want to take care of their families-just like you and me. The IPAA is an old organization that was established to promote oil interests. So what ? They aren’t evil or any more “low lifes” than the next guy. I don’t belong to the IPAA, or API, or PPROA. Likewise Earthworks, Sierra Club etc. Both sides have a point. I just think you’d be more effective if youpulled in your hors a bit.

I never agreed that I stretch the truth!!! I do not!!! Do not put words in my mouth. And I do not agree with your comments.

It is very hard to know where the truth is because of all the secrecy and non disclosure agreements. Release the information in the non disclosure agreements then come talk to me about “both sides.”

Thanks for your comment.
