A Pflugerville barbecue sauce company is the recipient of a $7,500 incentives award that will help it make the shift from restaurant supplier to retail saucier, according to an announcement from the Pflugerville Community Development Corp.

The agreement means that 10-year Pflugerville resident Daniel Caldwell will keep his commercial kitchen in Pflugerville for at least three years and will hire at least one employee.

""This has been my dream to get my barbecue sauce to market, but I just never had the resources," Caldwell said. "With the PCDC's financial support, we can begin the next phase and get it into stores."

According to the announcement, Caldwell needed financial support to fund his first commercial batch of Danny's Barbecue Sauce. He currently supplied his sauces only to restaurants. The batch needs to be sent for nutritional testing at Texas A&M before Caldwell can enter into a contract with Austin-based Adam's Food Group to market and distribute the sauce to stores.

This is part of a string of incentives offered by Pflugerville to entice corporate growth. See past deals in our archives.
