Martin Selig Real Estate has been making headlines lately with a variety of new development proposals, and here's one more. The developer has proposed a three-story office project on a half-block in downtown Seattle's Belltown neighborhood.

The site for the 75,000-square-foot building is on the east side of Third Avenue, between Wall and Battery streets. It's next to Selig's 12-story Fourth & Blanchard Building, and three blocks north of where Selig is proposing a 36-story office/apartment tower.

The preliminary schedule for the Third and Battery project is to start construction in about a year. The estimated construction cost is $22 million.

Also in the works for the Seattle company are two office projects in Ballard, a luxury apartment building on Seattle's waterfront, and a mid-rise office in Lower Queen Anne.

Commercial real estate can be a brain-bending challenge, especially when you have that many projects going at once. But Selig clearly thrives on it.

"It's a lot of fun," he said in a Tuesday interview.
