The Bay Area Council sent an email missive shortly before midnight yesterday to those attending tonight's annual dinner, assuring them the San Francisco Giants' World Series game will be shown throughout the awards program.
"What better way to enjoy Game 7 than watching it with 800 friends," Bay Area Council President and CEO Jim Wunderman wrote.
At the dinner, Intuit (NASDAQ: INTU) founder Scott Cook and former Kaiser Permanente CEO George Halvorson will be inducted into the Bay Area Council's Business Hall of Fame.
"That's called a double header," Wunderman quipped. "We're making plans to broadcast the entire game. To ensure you don't miss any of the baseball action, doors will now open at 5 p.m. And we'll have some fun decor to set the mood."
The Bay Area Council is remaining tight-lipped on decor details, but did elaborate this afternoon that the game will be shown without sound during the dinner and awards show on four large monitors.
"As key plays and moments develop, we're going to show the game on the giant screens on either side of the stage — with sound," council spokesman Rufus Jeffris said.
So was the Bay Area Council concerned that no game shown at tonight's dinner would mean a lot of no-shows?
"No worries at all here," Jeffris said. "We have received numerous messages from guests praising us for incorporating the game into the event."
Then again, as one wag put it, "If the Giants repeat last night's poor performance, they can shut the game off after the third inning."
