Dallas signs four new restaurants for Omni Dallas Hotel

As construction is underway in front of the Omni Dallas Hotel in downtown Dallas, the city is signing up four restaurants to serve visitors and nearby office workers.

The restaurant leases, signed Wednesday afternoon by the city board overseeing the development, will add about 16,000 square feet of restaurant space within walking distance of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.

"By adding these four new concepts, we feel like we've brought to the area a variety of restaurants that will not only help visitors to the area, but people working and living in downtown Dallas," David Snell, vice president at Dallas-based development firm Matthews Southwest, told the Dallas Business Journal.

The project is being funded with remaining dollars left over from the development of the Omni, which opened in November 2011.

The four restaurants, and their square footage, are:

- Herrera's Tex Mex restaurant, about 4,200 square feet.

-Little Katana (sushi restaurant), about 4,300 square feet.

-Coal Vines (pizza and wine bar), about 3,200 square feet.

-A new beer garden concept by the same owners of Coal Vines, about 3,200.

Snell said the restaurants will complement what is already inside the Omni, including Texas Spice, Bob's Steak & Chop House and the Owners Box sports bar.

Each new restaurant will include patio space for customers to dine fronting Lamar Street.

Dallas CVB President and CEO Phillip Jones said additional restaurants within walking distance will help the city win more convention center business.

"This is something we have really needed," he said.
