King Leontes (Nicholas Ross) accuses his wife, Hermione (Tashina Richardson), of infidelity in Sundown Collaborative Theatre’s “The Winter’s Tale,” which opens Friday at Green Space Arts Collective.

‘Winter’s Tale’ scored with music of Sigur Ros

The Winter’s Tale chronicles the fallout of a king’s gossip. The Shakespearean drama finds a king and his family floundering in the shrapnel 16 years from the moment he falsely accused his wife of infidelity with his best friend.

Denton’s Sundown Collaborative Theatre presents an adaptation of the play using the music from the Icelandic band Sigur Ros and Shakespeare’s words. With music and poetry, the company examines how the characters — King Leontes of Sicily; his accused but virtuous wife, Hermione; Polixenes, the King of Bohemia and Leontes’ boyhood friend — restore their lives. Reconciliation seems probable when Leontes’ daughter, Perdita, and Florizel, the son of Polixenes, get engaged.

The company opens the play in Denton, with performances at 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday and Oct. 10-12 at Green Space Arts Collective, 529 Malone St. The company closes the run in Dallas, with performances at 8 p.m. Oct. 17-19 at Rockin’ Rehearsal, 1430 Regal Row, Suite 340.

Tickets cost $10 for general admission, $8 for students.
