George Xylouris, brilliant laouto (lute) player from the Greek island of Crete, and Jim White, visionary drummer with Australia's Dirty Three among others, have joined forces as Xylouris White, and will perform live on Transpacific Sound Paradise this Saturday, Nov 1st (6-9pm).
Brian Turner interviews Helios Creed of the legendary San Francisco punk band Chrome on Tues, Nov 4th (3-6pm). After the passing of the group's co-founder Damon Edge in 2005, Creed has rechristened Chrome and released the new album "Feel It Like A Scientist" (King of Spades).
DIY pop/psych fans take note: the Woolen Men, Yonatan Gat, and the Lame Drivers play Monty Hall on Sunday, Nov 9th (7pm)! The show is presented by Faye of Hello Children, and you won't want to miss it. Tickets $12.
The WFMU documentary, "Sex and Broadcasting," will premiere at the DOC NYC Film Festival, on Saturday November 15th at 5pm. Tickets for the premiere are sold out, but a second festival showing has been added for Monday November 17th at 3:15pm. Both showings are at the IFC Center on 6th Ave and West 4th Street.
