Denton’s first brewery schedules grand opening

Audacity Brew House, which will be the first craft brewery in Denton, will have three days of grand-opening parties, set to begin on Oct. 24.

While full details of the event haven’t been finalized, the business plans to be able to sell its beer at the events, give tours of the space and have local music all three nights.

The brewery at 1012 Shady Oaks Drive is headed by Doug Smith and Scott Lindsey, who started working to open the business in April of this year.

Local food truck

celebrating one year

Flatlanders Taco Co., a frequent vendor at Oak Street Drafthouse and Cocktail Parlor and Austin Street Truck Stop, will celebrate one year in business on Saturday.

The food truck, which specializes in street style tacos, will be parked outside of Oak Street Drafthouse at 6 p.m. until they sell out.

At the celebration, owners Ashley and Tyler Hall also plan to make an announcement about expanding the business.

New president and

CEO at Tetra Pak

Tetra Pak, a food processing and packaging business in Denton, has named Brian Kennell president and CEO of the company in the United States and Canada.

The company is in the process of relocating its headquarters to Denton from Illinois.

Kennell has been with the company since 1991.

He most recently served as the vice president of finance and business transformation for North America.

He replaces Michael Zacka, who now the vice president of the company’s new South Asia, East Asia and Oceania unit.

Cookies by Design

plans grand reopening

Cookies by Design will have a grand reopening ceremony Thursday to mark Emilie Douglas taking over as the business owner.

Phyllis Pittman, who opened the business 24 years ago, sold it to Douglas in August.

There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m., and attendees will be able to see the updated store front.

North Texas Cattleman’s Conference scheduled

Registration is now open for next month’s North Texas Cattleman’s Conference, scheduled for Oct. 24 at Covenant Crossroads Church in Aubrey.

The conference will bring seven speakers to talk about this year’s topic, “Managing Risk to Increase Economic Sustainability in Your Cattle Operation.”

Keynote speaker Jude Capper, a sustainability consultant and adjunct professor at Washington State University, will talk about the importance of sustainability in the industry.

There will also be representatives from different feed, pharmaceutical and agriculture companies on site.

The event is sponsored by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Denton County and the Denton County Extension Agriculture Committee.

Pre-registration is $35 a person, and is open until Oct. 20 at http://denton.agrilife.org/agriculture-natural-resources.

Attendees can also buy tickets for $40 at the door.
