Canadian teacher will be tried in Indonesia over child rape allegations

After being detained for 108 days without charge on sensational allegations of child rape at Jakarta's most prestigious international school, a Canadian man and his local colleague are being brought to trial in a case that has captivated Indonesia and alarmed foreign embassies.

Neil Bantleman, who is originally from Burlington, Ont. and taught at a private school in Calgary for a decade, was detained in July along with Indonesian teaching assistant Ferdinant Tijong. In an interview on Monday at the detention facility where they are now being held, the two men maintained their innocence and said investigators appeared set on proving their guilt from the beginning.
