Taylor Kilponen is tied for sixth place and so is North Texas after the first round of the 2013 Sun Belt Conference Championship in Muscle Shoals, Ala.
Kilponen shot a 1-over par 73, and North Texas as a team fired a 20-over par 308 and is in a tie with South Alabama after 18 holes.
FIU holds the first round lead at 10-over par 298 after 18 holes.
Kilponen tied her season-low with a 1-over par 73 and is only two strokes off the lead after the opening round.
Freshman Georgina Mundy is tied for 13th place after an opening round of 76. McKenzie Ralston shot a 79 and is tied for 31st, while Chaslyn Chrismer shot an 80 and Brooke Bailey posted an 85.
