Golf: UNT tied for seventh

AUSTIN – Facing off against the nation’s best teams for a second straight week, the No. 36 North Texas men are in seventh place after two rounds at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate in Austin.

The Mean Green shot a 1-over par second round on Saturday and climbed in front of No. 25 Houston and No. 20 Kent State.

Senior Curtis Donahoe continued his strong play of late as he is tied for fourth place after the first two rounds. Donahoe is at 3-under par 139 after 36 holes, after opening with a 1-under 70 and then followed that with a season-low round of 2-under par 69. Donahoe is five strokes off the lead heading into today’s final round.

Rodolfo Cazaubon and Carlos Ortiz are both tied for 26th place at even par after the first two rounds. Each had rounds of 73 and 71 on the day.

There is a three-way tie for the lead after two rounds as No. 12 TCU, No. 4 New Mexico and No. 6 Texas sit atop the leaderboard at 6-under par. North Texas is at 9 over heading into the final round.
