Golf: UNT finishes ninth in Kansas

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Blustery conditions battered the field on the final day of the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational, but freshman Eji Kwon stood out for North Texas.

The Mean Green notched just four birdies on the day, and Kwon was the only UNT player to break 80, as she fired a final-round 78.

Kwon had two birdies on the day and climbed into a tie for 26th place. McKenzie Ralston notched her second straight top-20 finish despite a final round of 85. Ralston finished tied for 17th. Taylor Kilponen (86) finish tied for 43rd, Chaslyn Chrismer (83) was 53rd and Georgina Mundy (90) was tied for 70th.

UNT shot 976 for the tournament and finished in ninth place. Kansas captured the team title.

The Mean Green will be back in action Oct. 7-9 at the Price’s Give ’Em Five Intercollegiate.
