Flower Mound Town Council members approved a measure that will assist Rainier Medical in developing the town’s first hotel.

Rainier plans to develop an upscale, select-service hotel with DePalma Hotels & Resorts.

Rainier expects the hotel to be five stories tall and include roughly 140 guest rooms and suites. It will also include 6,000 square feet of meeting space, a restaurant and bar, a pool, an exercise room, balconies and an outdoor seating area.

The hotel, part of the Rainier Medical River Walk development, is projected to open in the first quarter of 2016.

DePalma Hotels & Resorts will also serve as the hotel’s management company.

Scott Tarwater, executive vice president of DePalma Hotels & Resorts, is a Flower Mound resident. Tarwater has worked on the project with architectural firm Leo A Daly vice president Pat Miller, who is also a longtime Flower Mound resident.
