Lt. Gov. Dewhurst Calls for Obama’s Impeachment

Tea party leader Cathie Adams labels Grover Norquist and CIA Director John Brennan crypto-Muslims.

Update: This piece has been updated from the original published at 12:46 a.m. on Oct. 15.

The crowd at Monday’s meeting of the Northeast Tarrant Tea Party got more than they bargained for. The event at Concordia Lutheran Church in the Fort Worth suburb of Bedford was originally planned so tea party members could learn about the Muslim Brotherhood’s supposed infiltration of the United States. But the crowd was also treated to a dose of the sniping that’s come to define the Texas lieutenant governor’s race — and saw the state’s second-highest elected official, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, call for President Obama’s impeachment and removal from office.

Dewhurst was the first lieutenant governor candidate to speak. Since losing a 2012 Senate primary to Ted Cruz in part because of his insufficient tea party cred, Dewhurst has been working hard to ingratiate himself with his party’s right wing. He’s reached out to, and won praise from, tea party leaders around the state. And given the chance to appeal to the Northeast Tarrant Tea Party, Dewhurst opened with the big guns.

“This election is about protecting you and your freedoms, which are given to you by God, but which are being trampled on by Barack Obama right now. I don’t know about you, but Barack Obama ought to be impeached,” he declared to hearty applause. “Not only for trampling on our liberties, but what he did in Benghazi is just a crime.”

Texas Republicans have increasingly been flirting with the idea of impeaching the president. One of the first instances came before this very same group in 2011, when U.S. Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Lewisville), told the Northeast Tarrant chapter that he’d support impeachment, if only to “tie the president’s hands.” But rarely has so high-profile a state political figure as Dewhurst called for impeachment.

After the event, Dewhurst expanded on his comments to the Observer — pointing to executive decisions Obama has made, which he said fell outside the president’s authority.

“I think this president, Barack Obama, has disregarded federal law. He’s tried to do things which are not authorized under federal law, such as with immigration, such as not following our federal drug laws,” he told the Observer. “He’s created winners and losers out of Obamacare where he has no authority, such as allowing for the unions and big businesses to postpone their mandates for a year.”

Dewhurst also elaborated on his criticism of the administration’s handling of last year’s attack in Benghazi, in which an Islamic-militant group attacked a lightly guarded U.S. Consulate in post-war Libya, killing several, including the American ambassador. The lieutenant governor repeated an assertion made often by conservatives in the wake of Benghazi: that footage of the attack was streamed live into the White House and yet the administration failed to respond.

“I’m very concerned about Benghazi, in which all of the national news reporting indicated that live video was streaming into the White House. That means that there was an overhead platform, probably a drone in the area. At least that’s what it tells me,” he said. “And for not mobilizing some response to protect the ambassador and those three Americans is just outrageous to me. Just outrageous.”

However, there is no evidence that the White House witnessed the attack and chose to do nothing. CBS reported that a surveillance drone flew over the site hours after the initial attack — but the meme-ified idea that the White House watched the entire seven-hour attack from the situation room and halted rescue operations out of cowardice or malice has stuck. In December, the U.S. State Department released an accountability report that debunked many of the most popular claims, as reported by Slate’s Dave Weigel. (That is, if you believe the State Department.)

Dewhurst, concluding his remarks, clarified that he was speaking as a “private citizen.” But when pressed on the fact that he also happened to be a powerful public figure, he didn’t back down.

“I’m a private citizen, and that happens to be my view,” he said. “The man has committed crimes that do not warrant his staying in office.”

State Sen. Kirk Watson (D-Austin) tweeted after the impeachment call that Dewhurst had “lost his compass” and “will do anything to get re-elected.”

Republican candidates for lieutenant governor stand before a meeting of the Northeast Tarrant Tea Party on October 14. From left to right, state Senator Dan Patrick, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples and Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson.

But Dewhurst wasn’t the only candidate in the lieutenant governor’s race to throw bombs on Monday night — the race has become increasingly acrimonious, especially after claims from Houston state Sen. Dan Patrick’s opponents that Patrick fibbed in a recent campaign ad regarding in-state tuition for illegal immigrants.

Patrick’s used his time to go on the offensive with overt criticism of Dewhurst.

“As the lieutenant governor, what will I do? I won’t appoint half of the Democratic senators as committee chairs, for one,” Patrick said. It was his biggest applause line of the night. After his pitch, Patrick left the line of candidates standing at the front of the church and stood apart from them, in the corner.

Candidate Jerry Patterson opened with a shot at Patrick. “He’s a talk show host,” he said. “He talks a lot.”

But the candidate forum was just an appetizer to the night’s main course of red meat — a lecture on the history and influence of the Muslim Brotherhood, given by the ex-chair of the state Republican Party and top Texas lieutenant in Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum, Cathie Adams.

Adams gave a stemwinder on how Islam — the religion of the “illiterate Arab, Mohammed” — threatens the American way of life. Adams’ pitch, that crypto-Muslims guiding American political life include such notables as Republican stalwart Grover Norquist and CIA Director John Brennan (who, it should be said, has helped cause the deaths of a great many non-secret Muslims,) received an awed and hushed reception, with several audience members visibly or audibly moved by the threat facing their country.

Most of the candidates left the impromptu lecture hall, preferring to hang around outside and talk to activists. Dewhurst stayed for a short time but left to catch a flight. After the meeting’s conclusion, the remaining pols, including lieutenant governor hopefuls Patrick and Todd Staples, formed a line by the door. That’s when one of the attendees, fresh out of the presentation about the Muslim Brotherhood infiltration of Texas, came up to shake Staples’ hand.

“How are we going to keep the Muslims out of Austin?” he asked.

Staples smiled: “Boy, I tell you. I think they’re all concentrated and camped out down there. It’s a weird place.” In fairness to Staples, I don’t know how I would have answered that question, either.

But as I stood outside of the church, waiting to talk to Patrick and Staples on their way out, the negative attention around my presence reached a tipping point. I had contacted someone from the organization about the event more than a month in advance, and had freely identified myself as a reporter with the Observer to everyone I talked to. I was the only reporter there.

As the night wore on, the group started replying to my tweets, and I could tell my presence was wearing thin. A tall, burly, bald man, younger than most in attendance, started hovering around me. He seemed agitated. He disappeared momentarily, then emerged from the church with a similarly proportioned friend.

“You’re done,” he said. “You’re done.” He grabbed me by the shoulders and pushed me toward the parking lot where my car was parked. When I protested, the heavy, bald man urged me to “take a swing,” then called me a “whiner.” I said that it generally wasn’t a good idea to muscle out members of the press, regardless of their affiliation, and his friend yelled: “Is that a threat? Are you threatening us?”

“Nah, he’s not threatening us,” said the burly guy. “He’s just a whiner.” Then he snapped a picture of my license plate, and they watched as I drove away.

There is a reason for going off into far right land. Dewhurst is afraid of getting teabagged in the primary. Again.

    • http://brainsandeggs.blogspot.com/ PDiddie

He’s BEING teabagged in the primary. They consider themselves smart enough not to fall for his pandering again. To them, he’s a RINO like Cornyn.

      • Laurence R Vickery

Amen, Cornyn is just a WH coffee boy, and as such was a Yea to cloture. Rid the country of RINO’s

        • kindness

How has that worked out for you so far?

          • r€nato

            keep digging that hole teabaggers

  • wmchase65

These people are so stupid it’s not even funny anymore…crazy, crazy, crazy..wow

  • bob42

Last week Dewhurst was at a candidate forum sponsored by the Texas Nationalist Movement. He needs to make up his mind. Secede or impeach. You can’t have it both ways.

    • Peggy Sue Zinn

Cut the head off the snake. You oust Obama, then spear head for what he is planning will loose organization and then we have to trust that this has woken up enough of the American people that they will force change in how our government is run.

      • Occupy Christianity

Why is it that Teabaggers never know the difference between “loose” and “lose”? And “spearhead” is one word. Poor grammar can be so indicative of intelligence…

        • r€nato

          clearly they are loosers

      • r€nato

impeach Obama, so what? you need 2/3 of the Senate to convict, you know, otherwise you are wasting the nation’s time like the teabilly-led circus we just got done with.

And then… your new president is Biden, not Romney. Or will you impeach and convict him too?

      • James O’Flaherty

Red State education? That one was so bad that I’d need a translator….

  • Joey

    “Impeach the president!”
    “Why?”
    “Uh…’cause we don like him”

    • Pope Ron Polyp II

It’s because he’s bee ell ay see kay.

    • Laurence R Vickery

      Amen to that!!!!!!!!!

    • IslandTyger

“Uh, because he’s black.” If one more white person tells me we need to get a white person in the White House, I think I will vomit on him or her.

      • roooth

Yes, please – tell them you have a rare disorder that makes you projectile vomit when teabaggers talk.

        • FAITH47

Hey stupid, moron teabaggers are all consist of CONSERVATIVE DEMOCRAT AND REPUBLICAN.

      • mpunfun

They don’t ever say “white person.” They say “white MAN.”

    • roooth

      He’s just so…..dark

  • Dirk Diggler

Texas is a toxic mess for racism, anti immigration, Tea Partiers, white power, gun nuts..thats just in the major cities..don’t get me started about East Texas..

    • Melissa Finn

Texas is the second largest state in the United States. Believe it or not, that means that is NOT just a toxic mess for racism and white powered gun nuts. Caucasians are not even the majority of the state, according to the 2012 census. Are our voting districts gerrymandered to the point where the right wing is almost guaranteed as win? Yep. What are we trying to do about it? Vote them out. Our representatives don’t even represent the majority of the voters anymore, and that’s why they’re trying to repeal the 17th amendment so we can’t vote them out. Now before you call a state with 24 million people of all different backgtounds a sesspool off kkk gun toters maybe you should gets your facts straight, because you sound uneducated about the matter. Texans don’t want these idiots in control of our government anymore.

      • Laurence R Vickery

Let me ask you then, Do you support Obama? Do you think he is doing a wonderful job as President? Do you think Obama is truly representing your best interests? If you do, then I need to know if you have been involved in the brain washing experiments that have been going on.

        • steveorevo

Would the world be a better place where you pay millions in E.R. costs *for someone else* that a $7 dollar bottle of antibiotics could nip in the bud? Where your grandchild with asthma has to pay hundreds for an albuterol spray that costs $5 in the UK? Where Osama Bin Laden, Moammar Gadhafi, and Abu Anas al-Libi are still active? Where equal rights and needed techs are inhibited by millennia old dogma? Where you can overlook reports titled “… determined to strike in the US”?

If your answer is anything but “yes”, that’s a special kind of stupid.

        • roooth

Damn right I support my president.

Thank God we won in November! What a nuclear bullet we dodged!!

I shudder to think where we’d be right now if the Romney/Ryan/Cruz wackos had any more power than they do now.

Good grief – what are you possibly thinking?

          • Graz65

Can you imagine if McCain/ Palin were in the White House? I sincerely believe Palin would have done her level best to have McCain become incapacitated in order for her to become POTUS.

          • Tammy Chapman

I’m thinking there weren’t any good candidates to choose from and you took the party line way out. Ever been to Benghazi? Now you have to live with the Fast and Furious bed you made. I think no matter what happens you will always say it’s somebody else’s fault, like the IRS did, and you will never, ever find fault with any person you choose. No matter what that person does or how blatant their actions. I think it’s important for you to be the winner. Even if the prize is only a plastic finger puppet.

          • mpunfun

Actually, I do have issues with President Obama. He didn’t shut down Guantanamo. BUT then I read up on it and it’s because the Republicans refused to fund the shut down. Go figure.

          • Tammy Chapman

Guantanamo is your issue with Obama? Guantanamo? The prison in another country that houses foreign combatants was your only issue with Obama? That is your priority? While you were worried about those prisoners, Americans that live next door to you were being horse tied and bound and gagged! And it’s the republicans fault. Thank you for driving my point home!

        • kindness

Yes. I do support Obama. I do support the ACA.

        • James O’Flaherty

“There are several reasons, but the one that really tops the cake is the fact that Barak Obama is playing a role as the President of the United States, our Commander in Chief, and is NOT a U.S citizen. Then add to that he is a Tyrannical maniac attempting to impose Marshal law by inciting us to riot. I see his attempts to make us hurt and cause chaos in an attempt to make us all lose control. He has thus far been unsuccessful in his attempts, but people will only take so much before they will react to his BS. He is not KING, and will never be KING. He works for the people and yet does not recognize that we are his boss. Instead he call us extremists, and terrorists when in fact he is the Muslim TERRORIST trying to impose something on us that we don’t want. He will run into problems trying to get what he wants.”…..

Time for you to get back to Breitbart . Don’t forget your secret code book and special tin foil hat.

      • Tuco Benedicto

I am sorry but you just went full retard.
This past election in Texas was a dominant win for Republicans and without repealing anything yet.
You have a weird concept of using sensationalism as proof.

  • Mike Palmer

There are those of us that remember the voting record change After Wendy’s filibuster. The voting records were changed in front of everyone, that make it look like republicans made the deadline, when in fact they had not, and Dewhurst was forced to admit it. He is the one who should be impreached

    • Laurence R Vickery

“Impreached”???????? What is that a sermon in the courts calling for an apology???????????

      • r€nato

settle down, don’t break your ? key, it’s just a typo.

    • mpunfun

Yes, he should be impeached for that. Actually, it’s worse than that. He should be in jail.

      • r€nato

rule of law! rule of law!

      • Paula Beninati

He should impeached, sent out of America to Benghanzi and put into jail there until he f’ng answers us… waterboarding sounds great

    • FAITH47

How can you impeached a person who is not even in office?Common sense baby.

      • Mike Palmer

common sense is what you lack. Dewhurst is the Lt gov of TX. I think that counts as being in office.

        • jonathantaylor

YES AND HE IS AN IDIOT!

    • Paula Beninati

      You’re an idiot

  • Melissa Finn

Wait…taking away our freedoms…..didn’t he just recently say he wanted to repeal the 17th amendment and take away direct voter elections for their representatives? Let’s be accountable for what we say about our president taking away freedoms when you’re planning on taking away constitutional rights. Not to mention, since we are on the subject of scrutiny over Bengazhi, where was Dewhurst’s call for George W Bush’s impeachment for the lives lost in Bengazhi when he was commander in chief? You can’t have it both ways. I don’t want to see our state go blue, but this guy is an idiot, a hypocrite, and wants to take my constitutional right to vote for my senator and let our wonderfully non corrupt (ahem) state legislation pick my representatives for me, without my vote. Nope. Not today. Not tomorrow. We need accountability folks, and this guy is not accountable.

    • Laurence R Vickery

Never allow anyone to take away our right to vote. I soooo agree with you on that issue. We need to keep voting honest. I believe that the Presidency can be bought with our 2 party system, and we need to make Senators work for their constituents, Not for their own political gain……

      • Mike Palmer

republicans are doing their best to limit voting rights, with all of the id laws, and their gerrymandering. See like Republicans know they can not win without rigging the system.

    • Tuco Benedicto

So because one side did not call the other out it absolves the current regime?
      Is this really your logic?
Both Obama and Bush are war criminals.
Killing kids with Predator drones in nations were are not at war is a war crime.

  • Melissa Finn

http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/3246847. In case anyone missed out on all the Begazhi-like situations that happened under W Bush’s presidency. There has to accountability for every president, and if you’re not going to call out one for the same thing (but worse), how the Hell are you gonna call for the impeachment of another just because he isn’t a republican?! This is not an honest politician, Hell, he isn’t even an intelligent politician. He wants our 17th amendment repealed, he wants to secede from the Union….I’m sorry, Ted Cruz and Dewhurst do not represent Texas, despite what the gerrymandered poll turn out said. Both of them need to be impeached. It’s an embarassment to our state and our country that we let men like these represent us.

    • Laurence R Vickery

Hey I am all for prosecuting Bush for the crimes he committed. But Obama should be in the same cell.

      • Mike Palmer

what crime exactly? which specific law has Obama violated?

          • texasaggie

Surely you are aware that all of the so-called scandals that you listed are invented by the right wing. Fast and furious came about first with Bush and then when the feds tried to stop the straw buyers, it turns out that what they were doing was legal (thank you, NRA). NSA, you might have an argument except that it began under Bush and Poindexter (TIN) and the Patriot Act. Benghazi has turned into a right wing fiasco because everything they come up with has been shown to be bogus. Same with the IRS, there being more left wing organizations denied tax exempt status than right wing organizations. Indeed, no right wing organization was ever denied tax exempt status even when they flat out lied on their application (Rove). And the only reporter scandal involving Fox is the quality of the bobble heads that they present to the public.

real people people are saving real money under ACA. I know 3 personally.
Businesses are Business, not people and do not have religious, rights, and those that wasnt to deny people any service or product, or violating the rights of those people being denied. I have never seen a website as massive as this NOT have glitches on a rollout, anyone that works with IT knows that. We have spent billions on aircraft that do not work, where is the outrage about that? Bush too office with a surplus, and drove the deficit to record levels. Bush also did the same in TX h e was left a surplus by a WOMAN and another democrat, and the spending soared. Detroit, was bailed out, and doing very well, thanks to that. Remember Bush bailed out the banks. What about the embassies that were attacked during GW Bush. What about the republicans voting to reduced spending for embassy security? NSA spying started with the Patriot act under GW BUSH. Obama did not directly block anyone from using any parks or monuments, that would be the parks service. And Obama, unlike cruz and Palin did not come uninvited to the vet rally and usurp it for their own political purposes against the wishes of the event organizers. White house tours, again Park service, not the president. So far, nothing you have said violates any law.

          • kneady

It isn’t a glitch when you have to rebuild a website which is what will have to be done. I’m not really sure why you’re bringing up Bush into all of this he had many faults and I didn’t vote for him either. I know of 7 people who will not benefit whatsoever from the ACA not including myself and my rates are up and my co pays are higher. Obama bailed out the banks fool where do you get your information? It was Clinton that abolished the Steagall & Glass act protecting the banks from the doing the mischief that was done had he not done that we wouldn’t have had the fallout we do today. Detroit has been ran by Democrats for years and look at it. I’m not sure what you are referencing but it is not a success. What about the embassy that were attacked during the Bush administration? No Ambassadors were killed (hello?). the grounds were closed at the memorial period. Your distortion is irrelevant. you can make anything up and anyone can do that. the rally for the illegals was not an invited event and that’s why it was shut down also. Bottom line is police were brought in to keep it closed costing the same as being open. that is a tyrant Government throwing their fist down for no reason other than control. So while you cheer-lead for your master you are a part of the problem. When I said the people have been being played for decades that includes a decades(multiple of Presidents) So pull your head out and look at what’s happening. We will not be able to pay this debt. The dollar will plunge, the interest will go up and it will not be the global currency it is today. The sequester is the only that has helped this President but it is a lie that it is a spending cut, it is stealing by not paying the amounts you owe and expecting others to write it off. The ACA is the end for the people, You can say what you want but it was meant and will only function as a single payer or to rip out Medicare mandates and neither is being done. As it sits it is meant to bankrupt insurance companies so they can be taken over. You might think this is a good thing but it is not the way you do business. If the people wanted a single payer it would have passed that way but it didn’t. This doesn’t mean you disguise it as something else.

          • Mike Palmer

I have not heard about the site being taken down and rebuilt, only references to The “glitches” being fixed. As far as I know, slow as it is people are still using it to sign up for coverage.

The Bank bail out is called TARP . It was signed into law by GW Bush Oct 2008, not Obama.

I was not speaking of the Success of Detroit as a city, as you seem to be. but the auto industry, that rebounded very nicely and paid back the bail out money.

Embassy attacks under bush ( a lot more than 4 were killed) :

January 22, 2002. Calcutta, India. Gunmen associated with Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami attack the U.S. Consulate. Five people are killed.

June 14, 2002. Karachi, Pakistan. Suicide bomber connected with al Qaeda attacks the U.S. Consulate, killing 12 and injuring 51.

October 12, 2002. Denpasar, Indonesia. U.S. diplomatic offices bombed as part of a string of “Bali Bombings.” No fatalities.

February 28, 2003. Islamabad, Pakistan. Several gunmen fire upon the U.S. Embassy. Two people are killed.

May 12, 2003. Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Armed al Qaeda

March 2, 2006. Karachi, Pakistan again. Suicide
bomber attacks the U.S. Consulate killing four people, including U.S.
diplomat David Foy who was directly targeted by the attackers. (I wonder
if Lindsey Graham or Fox News would even recognize the name “David
Foy.” This is the third Karachi terrorist attack in four years on what’s
            considered American soil.)

September 12, 2006. Damascus, Syria. Four armed
gunmen shouting “Allahu akbar” storm the U.S. Embassy using grenades,
automatic weapons, a car bomb and a truck bomb. Four people are killed,
            13 are wounded.

January 12, 2007. Athens, Greece. Members of a Greek
terrorist group called the Revolutionary Struggle fire a
rocket-propelled grenade at the U.S. Embassy. No fatalities.

March 18, 2008. Sana’a, Yemen. Members of the
al-Qaeda-linked Islamic Jihad of Yemen fire a mortar at the U.S.
Embassy. The shot misses the embassy, but hits nearby school killing
            two.

July 9, 2008. Istanbul, Turkey. Four armed terrorists attack the U.S. Consulate. Six people are killed.

            September 17, 2008. Sana’a, Yemen. Terrorists
dressed as military officials attack the U.S. Embassy with an arsenal of
weapons including RPGs and detonate two car bombs. Sixteen people are
killed, including an American student and her husband (they had been married for three weeks when the attack occurred). This is the second attack on this embassy in seven months.

About the parks again, not the president, but the park service. You need to re read what I said about being un invited and work on your comprehension skills. The Closing of the National parks was the result of childish tyrannical republicans that held the country hostage with an issue that had nothing to do with the debit ceiling. the debit ceiling is about paying for what congress has already approved, nothing more. The republicans by their actions were in direct violation of the 14th amendment.

The republicans are not serious about reducing any debt, if there were they would eliminated subsidies for gas and oil companies that are making record profits, they would vote to eliminate tax shelters and loopholes.

The fact is that the individual mandate has deep Republican roots cannot be
denied. The idea of an individual mandate replacing the single-payer
health care system was proposed in 1989 by the conservative Heritage
Foundation and was published in a paper titled, “A National Health System for America.”

But back to your original claim of crimes Obama has committed, so far you have shown nothing.

          • kneady

As far as crimes again we will see. It seems that it is more than just difficult getting classified documents without the President holding those hostage. “his new favorite word.” I do believe he has been involved more deeply into matters than exposed as I’m sure other Presidents have in the passed. but to claim he knows nothing about nothing? I’m thinking that should be impeachable. If I were President some heads would fly for not keeping me informed. But with comments like “I heard it this morning on the news just like you fine people.” Really? What else can be said?

As far as Obamacare he has changed the laws of it. It again was passed through Congress. A President does not have and should not have the power to change the law simply because he’s getting payoffs. I guess you will see with the Obamacare website as to whether it is actually a glitch or not. Time will tell.

TARP was a bail out but is is not the grand bailout I was referring to. And that bank collapse was from removing Glass and Steagall.

And the auto bailout back by other dollars through the buy back program? Paid back to the people via TARP funds? Oh you mean the auto industry part that couldn’t survive without constantly pouring money into it? The failed auto company that we decided since it failed so badly we need to give them more money? Well if that’s success I really hate to see failing.

Embassy attacks. Again was there an Ambassador killed? Ending the argument that the last time was with Carter who was considered not one of the better Presidents.

(You need to re read what I said about being un invited and work on your comprehension skills. The Closing of the National parks was the result of childish tyrannical republicans?)

So there is a party in our Congress that doesn’t feel like working with the other. And this is your excuse? It’s OK to close parks and memorials that the people of the United States paid for. Because you feel the other party are tyrants, bomb carrying, arsonistic terrorists you think it’s OK to keep people out? Veterans never the less. That’s despicable and in no way can you blame the Republican party for that big fat finger to the citizens that purchased it.

That is exactly what’s wrong with this nation today, Thanks for verifying that Tyranny of that sort is perfectly OK.

Yes the Republican party began the national coverage of healthcare, still doesn’t make it right. And no the Republicans are not serious about reducing the debt but neither are the Democrats. You keep making this a Democratic, Republican thing as if one party is so much better than the other when both have so many things wrong. Government is overgrown. We have a debt that we may not be able to come out of in fact if anyone does the math they will figure out that we will not overcome this. Our Government is failing the US in many ways but yet we want to grow it.

I do not give money to failing companies. I do not want to give my money to a failing Government in which the only people that will pay are the citizens that have been paying all along.

          • Mike Palmer

You accused Obama of crimes, Like I said, you have shown nothing actionable or anything that violates any specific law. What you believe does not make something a law or a crime.

The ACA has changed, it changed when it was being debated in congress. That is the way things work. Change is progress. refusing to change isnt.

BTW the the 634 mil figure you mention for the ACA website is wrong. That is money to CGI over the past 7 years, in 114 separate transactions, most of which had nothing to do with the website at all. What payoffs is Obama getting, other than those which seem to be a figure of your imagination?

ok what grand bail out are you talking about? and you know Clinton did not remove the Glass and Steagall. Congress did that. Glass-Steagall was repealed in 1999 by a Republican-controlled Congress
who pushed for the passage of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley bill.
Gramm-Leach-Bliley was named after its three sponsors, all of them
Republicans: Congressmen Phil Gramm (R-Texas), Jim Leach (R-Iowa) and
Thomas J. Bliley, Jr. (R-Virginia). The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act tore
down the regulatory framework that would have helped protect against the
sub-prime mortgage bubble and the speculation that led to a collapse of
the market where speculators traded the “derivative” securities that
were created from those sub-prime mortgages.

Regarding the embassies, it is tragic, that you think an an ambassadors life is worth more than someone Else’s.

74% of Americas blame the republicans for the shutdown,

Isn’t it funny that when the republicans created this healthcare plan it was good for the country, but now when it is known as Obamacare, it is destroying the country?

But like I said before, You original posts you accuse the president of crimes, and just like before you Have not shown any crimes that he is guilty of.

          • kneady

There are many questionable things about the President that will be addressed. As stated it is difficult when a mile of things happen in a never ending cascade of events. Which one do you address first? I feel the exact same way with Bush.

What is not seen as a crime is the ACA. As you stated there was a debate in Congress to make changes. This is not accurate. After the ACA was debated and written into law it was changed by Obama on his own with his pen. It is not OK to change laws. Changing the mandate where you delay Companies and then exempting unions is changing the law. Whether this is punishable I doubt. But the President does not have the authority to do this.

President Bill Clinton publicly declared “the Glass–Steagall law is no longer appropriate. No doubt that the Republican party had their own bill and repealed Glass & Steagall but this couldn’t have been accomplished without Clinton.

No I don’t thing an Ambassador’s life is more important but I do think that that this particular event should be put into the halls of stupidity. Bush’s invasions were bad but this took place after in that 911 happened. 911 is something the US will never forget and every year you hear rumors of terrorism that will happen that day whether paranoia or not. The documents clearly show the need for security. the fact that ti was 911 is just a plane given. To blame the Republican party on reducing military spending is ridiculous since this could have been covered. It is the same as closing the memorial because you say you don’t have the funds when indeed you do when it comes to keeping people out.

And yes I do think it is silly for Republicans to get upset about the health care bill when they were the first to wanting to create it. To me it doesn’t matter who created it. It’s unconstitutional to make someone pay for something that they cannot afford. Pay for something they can’t afford and they still don’t have coverage- that’s insane. I really don’t care what judge you are in what court. It’s not appropriate and it is legal theft.

          • methinks

thanks for you input, you are wrong about Detroit though. There has been no bailout for Detroit and they are NOT doing well. You should not respond to kneady however, that is one hateful racist crazy and there isn’t enough intelligence to have a conversation with that one.

          • Paula Beninati

How’s that going for you now?

          • Mike Palmer

well government is open, Stock market just hit a record high, John Boehner’s was able to get onto healthcare.gov and signed up. Things are looking well.

        • Paula Beninati

Not adhering to Our fucking Constitution you moron and trying to change it. Don’t you like your Freedom? Hope you don’t because it’s going to be taken away from you when you are FORCED by the government to purchase a heath insurance plan you don’t need. Go back to school or move out of the Country

          • Mike Palmer

Paula, I doubt you have ever read the Constitution, because from your posts you seem to have no clue what is actually in it. Oh and it is Not the “fucking constitution” have some respect and class. *Stupid people resort to vulgarity. * You might want to read it and you will not sound so uneducated. And in case you have not noticed, republicans are busy passing laws against women, children, workers, voters So your people are the ones taking away freedoms, you might want to pull your head out of the sand and see what is going on? Do you Have auto insurance? the government forces you to have that you know. So really Paula, if anyone needs to go to school, that would be you. As for moving out of the country. I think that may be what you would want to do, given your view of things. There are some countries with in the Middle East that have the same attitude that you do. and I am sure a burka could only improve your appearance

      • Sheila Reid

Now that is a fair statement.

    • mpunfun

Melissa. I don’t think they are calling President Obama out because he isn’t a Republican. They are calling him out because he is Black. The rest of your post I totally agree with — 100%

      • V. LoDato

You are a moron…i’m sick of all you loser liberals pulling the **%%$$# race card…In the beginning he wasn’t black enough, now he’s Malc. X..You need to come up with something better for the reason this country half way thru his second term is worse off than 6 years ago…he quadrupled spending of the last four presidents combined you idiot…from blasting Bush about spending billions to himself spending over 14 trillion dollars! explain that?

        • Mike Palmer

evidence of true colors: the vet rally. The organizers did not invite cruz or palin they highjacked it and used the vets as political props. That included waving confederate flags in front of the white house. I would say that is pretty racist.

        • mpunfun

Hi there V.LoDato, did you pull that 14 trillion dollars out of thin air or did you get it from Faux Noise? If you’re going to come after me, get your facts in order before you do. And as far as the country being worse off? Fact check por favor. You’re the idiot who believes whatever people TELL you to believe. Go away now.

        • Arcturus

What country are you living in, Iraq? Things are measurably better now. And your numbers analysis is laughably wrong. Wipe yourself off too.

          • newsmom4968

is vitriolic, insulting name-calling is the best you can do? that is so sad. “wipe yourself off”? really?

        • Rick L.

Hahaha. Loser liberals. We won the last election (well O.K. Obama is more centrist, but you ‘publican types don’t know the difference) you lost. Loser.

          • Mike Palmer

Oh just a reminder, A democrat in NJ just took another senate seat . The trend is starting.

          • Texas Voter 3

It’s not “another” senate seat. He is replacing a Democrat. Count remains the same. Jeez, do you guys do any individual thinking on your own? Just keep counting, oh, and be sure to count on the 1st Wednesday AM in November 2014. Just sayin! You will be disappointed. We will have both houses then, can you say L A M E. D U C K ?
Is that the trend you are referring to?

        • Jed

          quadrupled spending?

wow, if that were true, i could see how you be upset.

since it isn’t, i’m not sure what to tell you.

except that i don’t know too many people who are worse off now than they were in 2008. sorry your mileage varies.

        • mpunfun

Unfortunately, V. Lodato, this country is NOT worse off than it was 6 years ago. He did NOT quadruple spending and if you think Obama spent 14 trillion dollars, do a little research BEFORE you post. Otherwise, you look stupid.

        • jonathantaylor

Hide your OBVIOUS hate in language THAT MAKES NO SENSE! Please stop watching so much FOX NEWS!

      • Cozman57

Melissa is absolutely correct. Witness people like Joe the plumber calling for a “white Republican president”, Brian Fischer’s call to replace our Kenyan (African = black) Muslim (=dark skinned religion), tea party signs of the president in leopard skins and a bone through his nose, evangelical conservatives like those in my family who call him a ni##er muslim, et al. The only race card being played here is by the middle aged, middle class, white tea baggers.

        • FAITH47

The reason the CONSERVATIVE DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS dont like this BOOZE, because does’nt know how to run the country period.Do you want your tax dollars to go to the terrorist, well he is a member of the muslim brotherhood.

          http://frontpagemag.com/2013/theodore-shoebat/al-shabaab-and-obamas-family-want-islamic-kenya/

          • Rick L.

BOOZE? I’m going to assume you meant to type Bozo. Unless of course, BOOZE is some crazy acronym (letters representing the first letter of a series of words written as a capitalized word) for the President. The rest of your rant however, leads me to pause and consider that your writing of BOOZE is neither of the things, rather it is what you’ve obviously had way too much of.

          • Cozman57

Faith, I voted for the president (proudly), support him, and I have some disagreements with him, but there is no way he owns all of the problems we face. Congress has tried to thwart everything he has tried to do except extend the war. He is a newbie, much like W. Will history judge him as a good president? Don’t know. But what I DO know is that people with their minds made up by racially and religiously motivated ideology are poor judges of anything. The reason most tea party people hate this guy is because he ain’t their kind. Whether that means race, religion (black Christians have historically been questionable), or political fundamentalism, it has nothing to do with his job performance. I would be willing to bet my military pension that if push came to shove you couldn’t articulate the first negative performance indicator that wasn’t a quote from Beck, Rush, or someone from the AFA

          • mpunfun

Oh Faith, the only advice I can give you is #1) learn to spell your racial slurs before you post them, i.e., it’s BOZO, not BOOZE. Second there isn’t just ONE terrorist, there are many terrorists and Barack Obama isn’t one of them.

          • jonathantaylor

Terrorist=(I am really racist, but I don’t come out and SAY IT!)

      • FAITH47

There we go again stupid racist…It was not because he is black, he does’nt know SHIT period. and putting our country down.Do you believe that his family are all terrorist?

      • stormkite

The fact that Republicans were calling for his impeachment BEFORE HE TOOK OFFICE sort of proves your point.

      • Sheila Reid

Wow, those are the same sentiments of Robert Redford.

      • texasaggie

They did similar things to Clinton, so both aspects are in play here.

    • kneady

How about changing a law? Remember Obamacare? You can’t just exempt your buddies. How about Benghazi? Lied with a straight face. How about Fast & Furious? How about the IRS? How about the fact that he simply isn’t a President and just a glorified campaigner? mpunfun get a grip, quit playing the race card just because you don’t have anything intelligent to say. Both Bush and Obama sucked but this is worse, much worse. I’ll take anyone over the man baby. BTW he’s not just black fools.

      • Occupy Christianity

Who, exactly, was exempted? What, exactly, do you have evidence for about Benghazi? F&F was a Bush era program, and the IRS targeted both Right and Left wing groups. You need to get a grip…on facts and stop watching Faux News. It’s amazing how upset racists get when you accuse them of racism these days.

        • Shug

You’d think being called a racist is worse than, you know, actually experiencing racism from the way the righties whine. Who’s being too sensitive, exactly?

        • Tuco Benedicto

So because Bush started F&F it absolves Obama for letting it run into 2011?
And cause the death of an American?
          Is this really your logic?
Both Bush and Obama killed kids with Predator Drones in nations were are not even at war with.
Both are war criminals and should be tried.

      • Cozman57

What’s funny is that a few months before the President allowed the wavers, Republicans were calling for wavers. They were for it before they were a’gin it. You guys want it both ways.

        • stormkite

Heck, they loved HeritageCare until the brown guy pushed it through…

      • mpunfun

Oh my God kneady. Benghazi? I bet you anything you don’t even know WHERE Benghazi is. Let alone what actually occurred. Let alone how many of our embassies were bombed, burned and invaded during the prior administrations, but all you care about is Benghazi? Fast and Furious WAS A BUSH PROGRAM you nincompoop. It just didn’t get funded until the Republicans funded it. I seldom play the race card because I realize it’s MUCH more sinister than that; however, when people are toting their fucking confederate flags in front of the white house, if you don’t think that’s racist, then what exactly would you call it?

        • Tuco Benedicto

You got that from the Maddow take.
You do know she was caught lying on numerous parts of that video?
          Look it up.

          • Jed

was the flag there or not?

          • Tuco Benedicto

            So?
The Flag is not even racist moron.
            Look it up.
It was not even the Confederate Flag until after the War.
            ROFLMAO.

          • methinks

you comment tells me you didn’t watch Rachel’s report on Iraq. None of it was opinion from her, all of it was statements, interviews and quotes from others. Now how do you catch her lying when she didn’t make the statements? You should watch it, I did but I found that it was all old news for me.

        • kneady

I know you are really stuck in the past looking for ways to make everything legit. i know where Benghazi is. And Oh my God mpunfun. Bush didn’t get an Ambassador killed. I don’t carry a confederate flag and maybe you should pull that one out your arse. members of my family are not white so it’d be appreciated if you peanut crowds would put down the race card s just because it’s the only play you have doesn’t mean you need to play it. You never addressed him changing the law. You can’t because he did. How intelligent of you to assume i’m a Bush fan since I’m not not just anyone can assume.

          • mpunfun

Perhaps Bush didn’t get an Ambassador killed; however, I will raise you 5,000 American soldiers, 22,700 severely and permanently injured and $6 trillion dollars when he lied to the American people and we ended up bombing the wrong country.

          • mpunfun

I just read this morning that the ONLY reason we went into Iraq was because we just wanted to beat the shit out of someone. Great excuse for going to the wrong country. If Bush hadn’t been so busy flying Bin Laden’s BROTHER out of the country right after 9-11 when all of our air spaces were closed down, he might have realized that 21 of the 24 hijackers came from saudi Arabia. Unfortunately, that’s where the Bush’s “do business,” so we couldn’t possibly do THAT. Instead, we kill thousands upon thousands and pad KBR and Halliburton’s pockets at our expense and at the expense of our military. Bush needs to be in prison.

          • methinks

do you people EVER present a cogent argument? with you tea nuts it’s always about unfounded allegations and vitriol. The crazy really comes through in your posts however.
which law did Obama change? which buddies did he exempt?
Obama is the President of the United States of America, just because you say he isn’t doesn’t make it true. respect and deference to the office of the President of the United States is assumed and until this president, always given. That this President is given no respect by the likes of a low life like you is astonishing but so commonplace these days I am not longer horrified. I simply accept that its a racist thing and hope that your kind will stop procreating soon.
The IRS “scandal” was made up and promoted by Darrel Issa. He was discredited when rep Cummings released transcripts of hearings where Issa questioning anyone with any truth to say behind closed doors and hiding their testimony. He only released testimony that supported his lies. Issa should be impeached or at the very least brought in front of the ethics committee, too bad the GOP hasn’t any ethics to police their own.
Why do you think that Obama is responsible for the attack in Benghazi?
why do you not know that fast and furious was a Bush era program?
Why do you thing these “scandals” have gone nowhere?
Do you even have a brain to think with or are you so consumed by your hate that you can’t question the lies you have been told?

          • kneady

Who said the President isn’t the
President. Talk about unfounded lost arguments.

Let’s try this again. Maybe you can
            read it a little slower?

Obamacare is the law that was passed.
Obamacare requires everyone to participate. This means “everyone”. It is a law
that was passed by Congress as all laws should be.

A President cannot change this at free
will. It is the duty of Congress to change parts of laws or laws at a whole.

The parts of the law that were changed is
exempting his union buddies from implementing it for a year, exempting certain
            companies from participation.

It is not a matter of respecting or
disrespecting a President. It is a matter of upholding laws.

The IRS scandal isn’t something that
was manufactured… Why would the IRS themselves admit to any guilt. I suppose
Issa made them do that to???

Yes Fast and Furious was brought on by
Bush. It was messed up on Obama’s watch. We have been supplying weapons for
years just like Russia supplies weapons and we supply weapons to the middle
East. The problem is you don’t mess up. That’s what happened. Did you miss it?

Do I think Obama’s responsible for
Benghazi? No not directly but yes indirectly. There are documents available for
everyone to read that clearly indicates a need for more security. It doesn’t
take a genius to figure out that 9/11 might be a really good day to supply the
security. And so as President it does go up the chain of command when that many
requests are made. To remain unaware as a President makes you an idiot.

The scandals will be brought to the top
but it is difficult when an administration throws out massive amounts of
bungled items along with campaigning for things that people don’t want. You can
only direct time to one item at a time to resolve it. On an endless trail of
denials and mishaps it’s really quite clustered.

My brains working just fine but I think
you might check yours since I don’t hate. I investigate unlike you. Didn’t vote
for bush sorry to crush your fancy. The people have been betrayed for decades.
Obama is just the ongoing problem when he refuses to acknowledge that he knows anything
about anything. Who couldn’t play that part?

          • kneady

All I can say is support Obama. Seems all the things that you consider so detrimental are OK now that it’s this President. For the record I’m not with the Tea Party or the Republican party or the Democratic party. Both sides are wrong and you want to cheer for your team that’s just fine. The reason issues are being addressed in the present is because we are here in the present. Doesn’t matter which President. I didn’t just pick him out of a hat. Rant all you want about the past to make things seem better if you like. I disagree. When did you want to start holding anyone accountable? You want to go back to Bush then get some of your reps in his face or do something about it. I’m dealing with the present. Has nothing to do with race or a confederate flag. And really how despicable are you? I say the ones spewing the race cards are the ones that need to be thrown up on. It’s as if you are out here looking for someone to strike down and how dare they speak of anything you have great knowledge about. You’re not that great, hate to break it to you. The thoughts are really useless since they aren’t even in the present. What good does it do to keep going through the same process and the same policies? You act like one political team is better than the other. Don’t be ridiculous. And what is this consumed with hate bull crap? That’s all that it is throwing crap in the air. Get a grip.

          • methinks

        • kneady

I just have to reply again. Because it really ticks me off. Not one thing did I mention or say anything, absolutely nothing about race but you did. It is people like you the puppets of the media that are racist. It’s one thing not to be racist and it is another calling other people racist when nothing was ever said. With wacked up comments like ” I seldom play the race card and well, I am but I’m really not crap”. When you have something better to offer let me know.

“You can’t just exempt your buddies.”

Have you told this to Goodhair? He seems to be unaware of it since his whole career in public office is based on scratching his buddies’ backs by giving them direct access to the state taxpayers’ money. Good examples are the charter schools, the corporations that benefit from his two funds that are supposed to bring jobs to TX, every appointed position in the state, …

Here’s a list that was forwarded to me, involving consulates, embassies and other American interests overseas and the attacks under the Bush administration.A HUGE thank you to Richard Leighton for this legwork here. For those of us just a tad fed-up with BENGHAZI, BENGHAZI, BENGHAZI and for those journalists (all of them) without a backbone nor integrity to ask about these events:

January 22, 2002. Calcutta, India. Gunmen associated with Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami attack the U.S. Consulate. Five people are killed.

June 14, 2002. Karachi, Pakistan. Suicide bomber connected with al Qaeda attacks the U.S. Consulate, killing 12 and injuring 51.

October 12, 2002. Denpasar, Indonesia. U.S. diplomatic offices bombed as part of a string of “Bali Bombings.” No fatalities.

February 28, 2003. Islamabad, Pakistan. Several gunmen fire upon the U.S. Embassy. Two people are killed.

May 12, 2003. Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Armed al Qaeda terrorists storm the diplomatic compound, killing 36 people including nine Americans. The assailants committed suicide by detonating a truck bomb.

July 30, 2004. Tashkent, Uzbekistan. A suicide bomber from the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan attacks the U.S. Embassy, killing two people.

December 6, 2004. Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Al Qaeda terrorists storm the U.S. Consulate and occupy the perimeter wall. Nine people are killed.

March 2, 2006. Karachi, Pakistan again. Suicide bomber attacks the U.S. Consulate killing four people, including U.S. diplomat David Foy who was directly targeted by the attackers. (I wonder if Lindsey Graham or Fox News would even recognize the name “David Foy.” This is the third Karachi terrorist attack in four years on what’s considered American soil.)

September 12, 2006. Damascus, Syria. Four armed gunmen shouting “Allahu akbar” storm the U.S. Embassy using grenades, automatic weapons, a car bomb and a truck bomb. Four people are killed, 13 are wounded.

January 12, 2007. Athens, Greece. Members of a Greek terrorist group called the Revolutionary Struggle fire a rocket-propelled grenade at the U.S. Embassy. No fatalities.

March 18, 2008. Sana’a, Yemen. Members of the al-Qaeda-linked Islamic Jihad of Yemen fire a mortar at the U.S. Embassy. The shot misses the embassy, but hits nearby school killing two.

July 9, 2008. Istanbul, Turkey. Four armed terrorists attack the U.S. Consulate. Six people are killed.

September 17, 2008. Sana’a, Yemen. Terrorists dressed as military officials attack the U.S. Embassy with an arsenal of weapons including RPGs and detonate two car bombs. Sixteen people are killed, including an American student and her husband (they had been married for three weeks when the attack occurred). This is the second attack on this embassy in seven months.

That’s a total of 98 people killed UNDER BUSH’S WATCH not to mention the attack in Lebanon under Reagan where over 200 Americans were killed. This list does NOT include 9-11.

Yes, by all means, let’s really focus on a CIA outpost and NOT an embassy where unfortunately, sadly and realistically 4 people were killed. That should be the end of the world as we know it. And why wasn’t Hillary there fighting them off herself? How irresponsible of her NOT to have anticipated this attack. Obviously, those bastards did not first confer with her.

  • Bryan Blake

Dewhurst is being “primaried” by the ultimate Texas Teabagger – Dan Patrick! Patrick is the face of right wing extremism in Texas. Able to mesmerize his low information voters for his political benefit. Unless we Texans realize that these Tea Partiers do not believe in “freedom” Dan Patrick will be the next Light Governor – renamed to reflect the character and political intelligence of the last two occupants of the office. Patrick can slide right in there without having to redecorate the office. Except for finding space on the bookshelf for his complete collection of David Barton books!

Dewhurst, living in the surreal bubble of the rich, is without reference to the plight of the average Texan. The infamous Ted Cruz “Teabagged” Dewhurst in the Senate race. Dewhurst, lost in his own arrogance, still labors under the illusion that The Tea Party will not allow him to hold another state-wide office. Dewhurst, as the mainstream political coward he is, has failed and continues to fail to call the extremists the unpatriotic and subversive scoundrels they are. We must suffer the Tea Party because of rich and ultra-rich men like Dewhurst. That Dewhurst is at these meetings pandering to their extremism clearly illustrates that none of them are fit for public office of any kind!

  • James Alias

So what is new? Congress couldn’t even impeach Bill Clinton for lying about getting a BJ. Why wasn’t Bush impeached for illegally torturing prisoners or spying on Americans. Why does Dewhurst believe so strongly that the Feds have rights to use the Stazi to force states to implement drug laws they disagree with? So Benghazi was a coverup, how many coverups did Bush do as well in Iraq and Afghanistan? I would say more than Obama has and I voted for Bush and not Obama, but the truth is the truth.

I don’t want Dewhurst or Davis as my Governor. If you are really concerned about State’s Rights and Individual Rights, then the only choice is to vote Libertarian. Dewhurst speaks evil of big government except for the big government that pushes right wing ideas from Washington down the throats of Texans who don’t want it. Instead of focusing on Texas issues, he opens his mouth and talk about impeaching Obama. Dewhurst make up your mind, are you running for the US Senate or for the Governorship of Texas?

    • Laurence R Vickery

Amen to voting Libertarian. We need to get away from a 2 party system.

      • r€nato

When the libertarian idol Ron Paul is anti-choice and so many libertarians were heartily in favor of Bush’s Iraq War, I see libertarianism as little other than slightly less religious hipsters who regard themselves as too cool to call themselves GOP.

        • James Alias

That is not my case. I came from the GOP. It was their hypocrisy that drove me away. Today they lie just as bad as the Democrats. The GOP party pretends they are the party of “Truth, Justice, and the American Way” when they lie for their own purpose, believe justice only belongs to those who look and act like them despite the Constitution, and the American Way pretend to be Christian and pro-family but really be for corrupt big business and for the filthy rich.

I worked for the State of Texas when Ann Richards came into office and she brought every carpetbagger and scumbag in Texas to Austin with her. Then George Bush became Governor and the rats scurried out of Austin. However, when Bush became the President he brought every carpetbagger and scumbag of the Republican Party to DC with him. I was shocked about how much he changed overnight.

Then after 9-11 Bush lied to the American public to invade Iraq and it wasn’t a little lie, it was big and it was deliberate. To me someone who believed in the truth, justice and the American way of the Republican party as it was suppose to be and what it really turned out to be it became too much stomach anymore.

I was never in favor of the Iraq war from the beginning. So unlike Democrats who say they were in favor of the war before they became against it, don’t count me. Also don’t count me as a Republican that believes it is okay to lie to defeat evil. Yes Saddam was evil, but we didn’t have justification for war and we had no plan, just fantasies.

    • kneady

Clinton was impeached. Bush and Obama are both bad. Both parties got us where we are today. Both parties will be responsible for bringing the US to it’s knees. Both should be dealt with. But no President stands before the people and states they won’t negotiate, That is his job, he is supposed to be a servant to the people not the other way around. No President has ever stood there and called half the American people terrorists, extortionists, arsonists. this is pathetic and not President worthy. There has to be a better solution because if there’s not the US will be downgraded, our dollar will be worth nothing. Not sure if anyone cares or if everyone just wants to bicker about who’s better than who, who’s black, who’s white. Who the heck cares stop being minions people. As Bush should have been so should Obama be impeached and give power back to the people.

      • kindness

Here was the Republican ‘negotiation’ (as seen elsewhere on the web):

Repub: So, can I come over and burn your house down?
        Dem: No!
Repub: OK, so how about if I just burn the second floor?
        Dem: No!!
Repub: Then how about just the garage?
        Dem: No!
        Repub: YOU WON’T COMPROMISE!

Sorry kneady but what Republicans wanted wasn’t compromise, it was capitulation. If Republicans had wanted a compromise they would have named members to the Senate/House reconciliation committee after both houses approved 2014 budgets last spring. Republicans refused to name anyone because they wanted what we have seen these last 3 weeks.

Yee shall reap what yee has sown.

      • James Alias

Congress didn’t impeach Bill Clinton only the House did, the Senate acquitted him. Congress can’t even pass a budget today, they are much worse than under Bill Clinton administration. To me Bush absolutely violated the Constitution when he authorized secret prisons, torture of suspects and started the spying on Americans without warrants.

I am not going to defend Obama, but I am going put Dewhurst in his place. He is not the choice I want for the Texas Governor office. He is all for big government so long as it is used to push his right wing agenda. I can’t stand people who say they are for states rights, smaller government, and the Constitution yet do the opposite. He has a proven track record of saying one thing and doing another.

        • kneady

Clinton was impeached and please look it up before making a fool of yourself. What is with everyone and this Bush crap. I could give a rats hairy arse about Bush. I didn’t vote for him. Obama changed the law period. So you have no point. Thanks.

I guess you know everything, like they say hire a teenager while they still THINK they know everything. Let me tell you once you understand how the system works and see the realities of how our CONSTITUTION has been trampled on by our President you may then reflect on your comments and see the mistakes you have made.

      • Mike Palmer

how exacty, and be specific, what constitutional laws has Obama Trampled. The only one I see being Trampled now is by republicans and that is the 14th Amendment

I guess that was okay by you because it was all in the “name of freedom.”

  • roooth

Impeach Obama? What an incredible joke, everyone knows the right wing wackos routinely call for ridiculous things that they cannot possibly get – they do it to distract from the crimes THEY have been committing.

Any Republican Congress member who took part in the secret meeting held by the GOP leadership during the President’s second inauguration, where they plotted to bring down the President of the United States, even if they had to bring down the country to do it, has committed Sedition and should be tried for the traitors they are.

They are continuing to commit sedition in meeting and agreeing to refuse to do the job they were elected to do – fund the laws and pay the debts of the United States.

The GOP leadership are traitors committing Sedition

    • mpunfun

Rooth, I like your post, BUT you are incorrect. The secret meeting held to determine that they would do ANYTHING to limit Obama to one term was held on the night of his first inauguration. Vows were taken that they would not vote for a single thing he wanted. They kept those vows. And look where it got us.

“There are those of us that remember the voting record change After Wendy’s filibuster. The voting records were changed in front of everyone, that make it look like republicans made the deadline, when in fact they had not, and Dewhurst was forced to admit it. He is the one who should be impreached.”

As an addition to this, some of us will remember the little known story of Dewhurst phoning a police station to try and have a relative released for committing , on the basis of “do you know who I am?”. While he was polite during the conversation, it’s clear that he thinks he is above the law himself.

So please remember these two stories about Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.

This bigotry and fear is truly remarkable. That is is overt and without any pretense is likewise remarkable. These men are dangerous opportunists and should be held to account.

  • http://patrioticvoices.com/ Matt Gray

Not sure why this generated such a big story. This Lt. Governor is not the only one looking to hold the President accountable for his actions. If Obama was of republican affiliation they would have impeached him by 2010 but that’s pretty much irrelevant now. I did like the end of the story…where it became less of a report…and more the one sided analogy of the blogger on how he got kicked out.

    • Mike Palmer

If Obama were a republican and not black not only would he not be impeached he would be a hero.

  • Peggy Sue Zinn

What has been failed in mention here is the numerous ways that Obama has in fact acted in direct opposition to the US Constitution. Obama is constantly and repeatedly worked to erode our gun rights, He declared war which was unconstitutional because he didn’t have authority to do so and Obama has in fact broke the Constitution by threat of penalty if we do not submit to his health care (which was ruled unconstitutional by supreme court). This man is a monster, and he needs to be stopped.

    • Mike Palmer

Peggy you are so misinformed that it is tragic. what war did Obama declare? The fact is only congress can actually decalre war. You are wrong about the ACA too, that was UPHELD by the supreme court, it was not ruled unconstitutional.

    • Occupy Christianity

Name one thing that the President has done to “erode our gun rights”? What war has he declared? I believe the Supreme Court (you know…the arbiter of the Constitution?) said that the AAC did not “break the Constitution.” Take off the tinfoil hat, turn off the Faux News, and get a grip on some facts.

    • r€nato

Obama done grabbed my guns three times already!

  • serena1313

What David Dewhurst, as many have already mentioned, and the other Republican candidates for Lt-Governor have made quite clear by stating that they want to abolish the 17th Amendment is that they do not believe we, the Texas voters, have either the intellect or the right to elect our US Senators and that is better left up to the State Legislature to decide.

If any Texan, irrespective of political affiliation, who is not utterly insulted and disgusted by this, then I do not know how you can even call yourself a Texan — I say this as an 8th generation native-born Texan. It is an affront to our democracy and everything we believe in as Texans and as Americans.

    • Mike Palmer

Are you outraged that republicans keep cutting funds for embassy security? do you recalled when the republican can health care plans was almost exactly what the ACA is? The only difference now is that Obama supports it. It was implemented in Ma by Mitt Romney, where was the outrage then?

  • Cozman57

Another example of Teabaggers using physical intimidation when someone disagrees with them. It should be clear to us that 1) tea party members are not willing to entertain any ideas other than their own; 2) they are not as peaceful as portrayed by conservative outlets and luminaries such as Beck. The venue also points to the white evangelical upper middle-class demographic of the movement.

Clearly this church – unless they charged a fee in keeping with those they would charge another similar group – is in violation of their tax exempt tax agreement. Evangelicals seem to forget that they as a corporation signed a CONTRACT with the government to not engage in certain political activities in order to receive tax exempt status. When they host such an overtly political/anti-government event they not only lend credence to the ideology.

One last thing that bugs the hell out of me is the BS about Benghazi. The ambassador ignored every regulation enacted by the State Department governing the actions of an ambassador of the UNited States, and as a result got himself killed. During such an attack the ambassador should not make the incident worse by putting herself or himself in the middle of the action. It is not his job to act as a rescuer. He represents the US diplomatically. His job was to confront the host government and demand they take action. Not only did his actions put the US in an untenable position politically, militarily as well – not to meant getting his whole security staff killed.

The idea that we could put troops on the ground in a couple of hours is more hollywood than reality. Special Operations operations require significant planning and cooperation – in this case – with people on the ground. It’s kind of hard to protect the ambassador when he is rushing into a firefight that he is not trained nor authorized to engage. There was no way he could have been rescued by the military. It’s complete BS.

“On religious issues there can be little or no compromise. There is no position on which people are so immovable as their religious beliefs. There is no more powerful ally one can claim in a debate than Jesus Christ, or God, or Allah, or whatever one calls this supreme being. But like any powerful weapon, the use of God’s name on one’s behalf should be used sparingly. The religious factions that are growing throughout our land are not using their religious clout with wisdom. They are trying to force government leaders into following their position 100 percent. If you disagree with these religious groups on a particular moral issue, they complain, they threaten you with a loss of money or votes or both. I’m frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ and ‘D.’ Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me? And I am even more angry as a legislator who must endure the threats of every religious group who thinks it has some God-granted right to control my vote on every roll call in the Senate. I am warning them today: I will fight them every step of the way if they try to dictate their moral convictions to all Americans in the name of “conservatism.” — Sen. Barry Goldwater in the US Senate, September 16, 1981

YES!YES!YES! OBAMA SHOULD BE IMPEACHED.HE IS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD. THIS IMPOSTOR (OBAMA) WAS NOT EVEN BORN IN THIS COUNTRY,HE ADMITTED IN HIS OWN WORDS THAT HE WAS BORN IN KENYA, NOT HAWAII.

  • Mindy

One of my friends said this, “Dewhurst is a definite DB. It is like no one was paying attention to him so he decided to start screaming nonsense like an drunk frat boy who crashes your Birthday Party.”

  • hOFTISANASSHOLE

What the hell is wrong with these people? Goddamn Texas, this is a disgrace.

  • Tuco Benedicto

So making every American game to be imprisoned without charge nor trial is not cause for impeachment?
When Bush killed his first kid with Predator Drones Democrats cried War criminal and rightly so.
But now Obama has killed far more kids with Predator Drones but yet no War criminal call form the Democrats?
I know both parties are hypocrites but any learned person can see the obvious bias.
Both Bush and Obama are war criminals.

I am a member of NET Tea Party. I was not at this meeting, however. I am still puzzled as to just what happened Monday Night. Here is what I know for sure about NET Tea Party as well as Tea Party Chapters in general. They are forward thinking, patriotic, know the Constitution backwards and forwards. They have diverse members from all social economic areas. They have one common cause: to ensure smaller government, fiscally responsible spending with regards to national, state, and local governments, and individual responsibility. Now I’ll be the first to admit I’m no politician, but I keep up with current events and I am very familiar with the Federalist Papers, History and content of the U.S. Constitution, and the ways the current government has failed to uphold the Constitution. I want to take this chance to say we are not racist, we are not religious nut jobs, and furthermore, I find the liberal habit of having no other argument dealing with conservatives or Tea Party members is dropping the race card or slamming the religious zealot label. Trust me, it just is not so! Find another label, because we a tiring of it, and may end up calling your bluff! Just saying – can’t you “intellectuals find another plausible attack or argument? Hey, you are not the only ones who read Rules for Radicals. Try gathering facts and knowing your own opinion and stop regurgitation liberal talking points. It is not working!

How many non-White members does your group have?

    Tea Taliban Troglodyte

  • channelclemente

The TeaParty will attempt to rope-uh-dope the Governors race by attacking Castro in Bexar County. It’s all about diverting and conflating issues.

Good ol’ Texas for ya (note Demographics of audience).

  • Kim Triolo Feil

Dewhurst is afraid of Wendy Davis. Making statements like this further alienates him from the level headed voters.

three cheers for attending the meeting (and not engaging the neanderthals you encountered).

my concern is how we deal with the rising incidence of bigotry that is being fostered by our-so-called political leaders: If dan patrick, david dewhurst and greg abbott are what passes for political leadership in ,and if public forums are asking how to get rid of muslims, how far away are we from suggesting blacks all be in by sundown? is we don’t defeat these yahoos at every turn we’re gonna be in even deeper- you-know-what than we have been with governor “oops.”

let’s start ditching them in november.

  • Sheila Reid

Hey Lit Dewhurst, if you want to win, take Obama out of the Texas Election and focus you and your attributes. But before you do that read Proverbs so you can obtain some wisdom. God Bless!

  • GameDayAggie

The church where the meeting took place must be a Missouri Synod or Wisconsin Synod Lutheran Church.

  • Michele ‘Mike’ Murphy

I met Todd Staples while I was mayor of Liberty Hill. He seems brittle, scripted. No center of gravity. I understand David Dewhurst as an entitled wealthy white man who has stooped to public service and gotten some crap splashed on his tighty whities. He needs to step away from the playing field. He has no aptitude for this.

Just another in a long line of racist teabagger politicians who hate America and are an embarrassment to all Americans.
Teabaggers are the new American Taliban.

This is what is going on in Lutheran churches in Ft Worth? Make a note of that…

“How are we going to keep the Muslims out of Austin?” he asked.
First, you must rescind the First Ammendment, which prevents the government (fed or state) from restricting religion. Then you have to write new laws enshrining some non-muslim religion as the law of the land and outlawing Islam. But which religion do we enshrine? Christian isn’t specific enough. There’s a big difference between Lutherans and Baptists. Heck, there’s a big chasm between different types of Baptists.
What the “get religion back in government” people always forget is that their religion isn’t the only one. That’s why separation of church and state is so important. Not just for the un-religious, but for believers as well.
Do we have to full theocracy before they get it?

  • April D. Korbel

I don’t suppose that reminding those fellas – as they bullied you back into your car – that you were excercizing your first ammendment responsibilities would have made an impression. They’ve been so poisoned by vague threats and bias against the “mainstream media” that they forget the press is the only occupation specifically mentioned in the Constitution.
I wonder if I’d have had the same problem back when I was a girl reporter.

We should impeach the republican party!

  • Kilkee

More ignorant ranting, and the TP voters eat it up.

  • Jacob Eagleshield

If anyone should be impeached it is the House do nothing Republicans, and their do nothing but obstruct agenda. We pay them $175,000 a year, plus their health care so they can sit sucking their thumbs three days a week. The function of an elected official is to carry out the wishes of the constituency. Republicans are on the opposite side of everything we favor. They assume we are stupid, and we need them to think for us.These bums violate their oath of office every day. They pledge to defend the U.S. not just their district. They ignore the people who they are supposed to be working for US! If we did to our employers what Republicans have done to us,we would be fired. We need to demand of ALL elected officials, regardless of level or party,be a good employee and SHUT UP AND DO AS YOUR”E TOLD!
