Work on Heath’s Safe Routes to School trails nearly done

The city’s Safe Routes to School project is close to completion.The project aims to build trails near schools for students to travel more safely. Construction started over the summer. Crews must modify ramps for the handicapped along the Horizon Drive section of the trails to meet ADA requirements. The process is expected to take six to eight weeks after state approval.Handicapped ramps will be modified at Jeff Boyd and Horizon Drive, near the Lighthouse Private School and at Country Club Drive at Horizon Drive. The project is being funded through the Capital Improvement Plan and a $1.2 million Texas Transportation Commission grant.
